Click start control panel administrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd-dvd rom drives you might see a yellow question mark ? right click you will have options to update driver, roll back driver,or select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem if you cant see your disk drive in windows explorer
Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
Hope this helps

The disc medio tray will not open and will not run on hp g60

Hi I'm Rain ,
Ok follow these instructions to reboot your CD Rom drive.

  1. click start then My Computer .
  2. In My Computer right click the DVD/CD rom drive icon .
  3. In the list , Click eject to see if the drive is being reconized .
  4. If nothing happens repeat steps 1-2
Now when you get to sep 3 you will click properties .

5. In properties click Hardware .

6. In Hardware click the DVD/CD device to highlight it .

7. Click properties .

Now look to the bottom of that window to see device status .
If it says , this device is working properly .Properties .
Next click Driver . In driver you will see a list of option tabs that allows you to , Roll Back driver Update driver and Disable driver .
The other option is Driver Details.

Click Roll Back driver to restore the driver back to the state before you added the latest program . Click ok and follow the screen instructions.
If this fails , you can follow these steps to get back to Driver and chose
Disable Driver . Click ok if another window pops up.
Now what you are doing is rebooting the DVD/CD rom drive.
This will restart all the drivers that are associated with the DVD/CD rom
device .
Now follow all the steps again to get back to Driver .
Now in Driver you will need to click Enable to restart the DVD/CD rom
device . Reboot your system and try the DVD/ CD tray to see if it responds . If it still fails to respond you most likely will need to replace or service the DVD/CD Rom Hardware { the Tray } .

Power producer cannot find dvd writer Help!!

1st Check to see if you have power (hit the eject button on the DVD writer). If not then you have a physical problem with the drive. If external DVD then reseat the power connections from the wall and to the drive (also reseat the USB cable from both ends). If internal drive then you would have to make sure the power is plugged in well (i doubt this problem as it almost never happens on an internal drive). If you still have no power for an eject, then you will have to get a replacement drive.

If it does eject, then check the Device Manager (right click "My Computer", select properties, Select the Hardware Tab, Click the "Device Manager" button) to see if your drive shows up. There should be a plus sign or minus sign (+)(-) in front of "DVD/CD-ROM drives". Click the plus sign if you have one, otherwise you should see your DVD writer here. If there is a "red X" on the drive, right-click it and then select "enable". Then your DVD should be active.

Otherwise if you have power and it is already in the device manager, then it is a problem with your Power Producer program and you will need to reinstall it or use another program (which you can find here http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/dvdcdburning.shtml) Hope this helps, Best Regards, -md

I have a Lite-On LH20A1P dvd drive. The problem is, it starts to write and the about a minute later it kicks out the disk saying - could not perform end of Disc-at-once. Then burn process failed. Could...

-There a lot of things we may consider.I'll give some few things.
-It may be your dvd drive is not working properly.
-It maybe the setting of your dvd drive is not configure properly.
-It maybe the blank disc is having the issue not the dvd drive.

follow this steps to check and troubleshot:
-Set the dvd region
right click on my computer select properties, go to device manager click the + sign under dvd drive, right click on you dvd drive-choose dvd region.

-Enabling CD recording
Click on My Computer-right click on dvd cdrom drive-go to properties-select recording, then check if the Enable CD recording has a check on its box, then check the box that says Automatically eject the CD after writing.

If this steps will not work then send me feedback so we can move on to the next level of troubleshooting.

Drive wont open/eject

try, go to my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager and go down the list to cd/dvd drives, click on the '+' and right click on your listed drive and select uninstall. restart the notebook and then the drive will be re installed with drivers automatically. it may be a firmware or driver error.

This sounds like a poor put together pc. If the DVD drive does not eject then either the dvd is faulty or the IDE cable and/or IDE1 connector on motherboard is not installed, try ejecting through my computer(right click on drive then Eject), if this works the button is faulty. The same goes for the TV Tuner card, again possibly a corrupt or non installed driver, try re installing mother board drivers and card drivers. This really needs to be returned as the pc is not fit for it's use.
