Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

Hi, I recently acquired a WD-52525 for free from a garage sale. The woman told me they just recently replaced the bulb but it no longer turns on (was working up until 2 months ago apparently). When I got it home, it did turn on, but it doesn't display a picture. The entire screen is filled with grey and white rectangles. I've been trying to find info on this issue, but all I seem to come across is that these TVs had bad capacitors..and a lot of them. As a side note, there don't seem to be any blinking lights that would indicate a bulb issue, as the power light stays on constantly at that screen (like I assume it would normally). After about 5 minutes though, the TV powers back down (assuming because it has no source, but maybe not). Any help would be appreciated, otherwise I'll be calling up my local repair shop on Monday. Thanks.

If the TV's are noted for bad caps, and the description of the error makes that possible, the only fix is to remove all bad capacitors from the boards and replace them with new ones.The bad ones are easy to spot because they usually are either bulged at the top or have goop running out of them, or both.

    Well yes, that's an obvious solution..but may not be the one I'm looking for. I was hoping for a little more case-specific answer. Maybe it's just a waste of time to replace them as something may be much more serious with it. In any case, what capacitors are the correct ones to buy? Side note: I did an error check (menu+device) and it gave me 12 = "No error detected, check power supply." Thanks again for any help.

    My experience in displays is more directed at smaller PC lcd's but I often deal with the same issue and it usually is a matter of replacing a bad caps. Aside from obtaining a service manual for the TV, the easiest way to know which caps you need to replace is by visual inspection. All components should have their value printed right on them, you simply need to read each one and then order them from a supplier such as DigiKey. Work slowly and either make clear notes about where each cap goes, or only remove one at a time to prevent mixups.

the circut that detects the bulb has been also failing in these sets
and the conversion chip that controls the picture , and the transformers are not putting out the full power they are supposed to.
this set will need to be tested to determine the exact cause or causes

Timer light blinking on my WD 52525 tv will not turn on


main board or bulb went out it is a diagnostic indicator used on the timer display to let you know its not working.

This is due to failing capacitors in the power supply. Many people have fixed them self repair but it takes some skill. If you cannot do this yourself, contact Mitsubishi. They will help with the repair under an extended warranty. You will have to pay labor.

Replaced bulb in Mitsubishi WD-52525 and it still does not work


What does not work? Does the green light flash or light at all? Can you "manually" turn on the tv? If the light is RED...the replacement was either installed incorrectly (or is not plugged in correctly to the contacts at the rear) or is the wrong bulb. Be sure the door to the front of the bulb in on as there is a micro-switch at the lower right that MUST be engaged.

You have a bad DM Board. You need to replace it. Changing the capacitors will not cure the problem. Completely replace the entire board

I have a WD52528 and it turned off and the lamp light came on.


I had the same problem took it in and it was the bulb had over heated and blew out. The bulb is $199.00(here in wisconsin).After teh repair i called hitachi they told me i could have done it myself without having to take the tv in...Hope this helps.....
