Question about Sigma Sport BC1106 Dts Wireless Bike Computer

1 Answer

My Sigma wireless dts 1606 L is not getting a consistent signal between the transmitter and the receiver. For example to day I rode 60 kms and the computer only worked / received 2kms worth of signal - the transmitter clicks loudly when it passes the magnet, however the green light does not always flash when it passes the magnet. I tried changing the battery on the transmitter but that did not solve the problem - the reciever has a good clear screen so the battery is not an issue here. The issue is very frustrating and I would appreciate any expert input.

It's a matter of good line of sight and distance between the transmitter and the receiver. Yours may be on the hairy edge of too far. Remove the receiver and test it at various proximities to the spinning wheel when it's transmitting.

Did you throw the magnet on the crankarm? If not check the alignment of the transmitter and the magnet - sometimes they need to be quite close. Sometimes they just fail. I have seen instances where cadence worked and speed didn't and vice versa - so the unit is transmitting perfectly, but one of the sensors has gone bad.

I had this problem as well. What I found was that the transmitter path from the magnetic sensor to the computer is very narrow, a 15 degree cone. Reposition your computer to fall within this cone. It should pick up the signal.

Well, it IS wireless. Perhaps the distance or line-of-sight isn't right. As a test, hold the receiver in your hand and hold it closer to the spinning wheel transmitter.

Here is the link to Sigma Sport. They have a good customer service and I would discuss directly with them. That way whatever is determined you cut out several steps and either get the unit replaced or fixed properly with advice that is direct from the source.

This may also be a warranty situation in which case again you will eventually need to go through Sigma Sport.

You have done all the normal things that make sense to diagnosing the problem, sounds more like the problem is internal. One thing to also keep in mind, electronics like this do wear out and sometimes they just start to die off. This may also be the case, but Sigma Sport will be able to tell you.

Good luck

Hi, my name is John. Welcome to FixYa. Take off the cover, with the circuit side down, take a plastic tuning tool, you can get one at your local electronics store. turn your channel select to midway of the band. make sure your modulation is turned off. Key your mic and tune VR13 to the Maximum on the watt meter. this is for the power. Next, locate VR14 turn the modulation up, and say ahhhhhhhhh, repeat if needed. Thanks for choosing FixYa....John
