For work, I have an HP Compaq 6715b notebook with the standard 2.0GHz processor. If I right click on "My Computer" and select 'Properties' it shows 1.99GHz which is close enough. However, at times...

The computer does that because it does not have to run at maximum speed. Although it can run at a higher speed, it is usually a safety precaution to do otherwise. If the processor needs to run at a faster rate, it will. If you want to run at a higher speed, you can overclock the processor (Here is a site that may help: http://lifehacker.com/5580998/a-beginners-guide-to-overclocking-your-intel-processor). If you do try to overclock it, be aware that there are risks of doing this (heat problems, battery life decay, possibility of messing up the processor, etc.) but if you want to try it and that is not your main laptop/computer, try it, else, be cautious.

How to increase processor speed of a rooted android phone

For most smartphones, the processors are clocked at speeds much lesser than their maximum supported speeds to improve battery life. That also means you are not enjoying all the juice your phone can give you.

Lets see how you can overclock your android phone to unleash its full potential.

Important: Overclocking requires super user permissions and so your phone needs to be rooted.

SetCpu is the best app out there to overclock your android phone. Its sheer simplicity and useful options sets its apart from its competitors. You can either download it as a paid app from the Android market or simply download the zipped apk from XDA forums.

Using SetCpu. Once you install and start SetCpu, it will first show you a screen with two options. Unless you have a specific reason to do otherwise, simply select "Autodetect Speeds Recommended".

write_tip-ynr5un4jtyctcjtii2mgkc4h-3-0.png

A screen will come up where you can change the maximum and minimum clock speeds and select the scaling method. SetCpu will automatically detect the maximum clock speed your processor supports.

Max - maximum clock speed.

Now its a bad idea to rush and drag the slider to its maximum in one shot. Although there will be no problems for most phones, it could lead to instability for some. Instead, try increasing the clock speed in small steps, running some heavy apps like games and if you don't see any instability, go back and repeat with increasing the clock speed. In case you find your phone going unstable at any speed, just set the speed to slightly below that value.

Min - Minimum clock speed.

Minimum frequency is the speed at which your phone will run when it is idle or no heavy apps are running. Setting it to a too low value can cause your phone to go slow with incoming calls, alarms and any other app that runs while idle. Generally it is advisable to set it to at least one third of the maximum speed your phone processor supports.

Scaling.

The scaling option determines how aggressively the minimum and maximum clock speeds will be applied. The drop down menu gives 5 options as below -

  1. OnDemand - Automatically sets the minimum and maximum based on load. This is the recommended setting.

  2. Conservative - Very similar to OnDemad except that the scaling is less rapid.

  3. Powersaver - Makes your phone run at min speed always to give maximum battery life.

  4. Performance - Makes your phone run at max speed always.

  5. Userspace - This option is useless as of now and is kept as a future option for apps to change clock speed that SetCpu doesn't use.
Once your phone looks comfortable with the new frequencies, you can use the "Set on Boot" option to enable the settings permanently.

Hello,

PLease try to refer to your motherboard processor maximum support and see the processor you can upgrade to your laptop without buying new motherbaord and other accessories such as memory. Remember if you plan to upgrade device in your laptop please see the hardware maximum support that your laptop hardware can support otherwise if you buy processor and other device beyond the maximum limit support of your current laptop hardware it would not work as you plan.
Thanks

What is 'd Maximum PhysicalMemory 4 WinXP? How can i speed up 3DMAX Rendering?

Max speed depends on your M/board, dear. If the slots are empty, double what you have for a start. WIn XP doesn't care. You can go past 1 Gig.

Check Bios and open up you AGP or PCI apature to maximum allowed.

Also set your shared memory for VGA to 128 MB or more.

For your processor, be careful. Factory settings come with processor settings preset. Check BIOS first, see what it's set at and compare with listed processor speed for your machine. If they match, leave them alone; work on RAM.
