I have a Fisher Paykel DCS 305 with a defective ignitor on the front right burner. How do i change that ignitor? I can't figure out how to get access to the under area. Thank you.

thanks for your quick reply. One question: could you be a bit more specific about "remove the cooktop" does something come completely off the oven itself and then that is what you turn upside down and remove the bottom? Thanks for the clarification.

Hi,

you will need to turn off gas , remove burner grates , and caps , unmount cooktop , unplug and turn cooktop upside down on counter (so have a blancet handy so as not to scratch counter top or cook top , and then you will need to remove bottom of cook top to get to spark module assembly .
Yes not the best design to work on !!!!!!!!!

Yes will need to disconnect gas line ,
No Pictures sorry!!.
But once you get bottom off you will see spark module . Just telling from memory

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

    Thanks for your response!!

You access the module through the top. Remove all the knobs, all the
burners, burner nuts, burner bases, then the entire top panel will pull
up and off to access the module. It's a very simple plug and
play---just turn the power off to the unit first.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

get an electrician in to fix it
the red wire is normally the active (power wire) and the blue is the neutral wire
if you fit the blue to a red terminal then you could be dead, blow the circuit or blow a circuit breaker
be safe call an electrician

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Oven won't light, but the stove top burners are fine. Don't smell any gas or any indication the oven is attempting to light....

next time send the brand name and model number so i can look up your machine,if it's a gas stove most likely it will be a bad ignitor, even if the ignitor glows it still could be bad,if the flame doesn't ignite and the ignitor is glowing change it out,if it isn't glowing pull out the ignitor and check it with a meter, common problem.

My DCS double ovens do not have any display left ( all th egreen display has faded in past three weeks) on the display panel. can you give me an idea of what i should do next Thanks Jim

The replacement part is (or was) Fisher & Paykel #16252 Electronic Oven Control (app. $240 in '06 when I replaced the last one). For what it's worth, I have had two boards fail in the past 10 years. On both of my boards, capacitor C3 (68 uf, 35v) is the part that failed. I replaced the bad cap on both boards (cost $0.16) and the displays were back to normal. Obviously, the failed caps were the manifestation, not the cause of the problem with my boards.

Dcs oven display dim - need part #

I just did this same repair...same part number as above (Part #211696 "Electronic Oven Control, Double).
to install you have to remove two screws on the top of the display section of the oven, as well as several screws on the bottom of it, and the screws holding the close pin/temperature probe socket.
Then you can pull off the whole top section (slowly) and remove the two connectors to the existing control unit.
Then release the ribbon cable connected to the control unit on the inside of the top section (press the two small pins inward and slide up the small front section of the black socket to release the ribbon connector.
Unscrew the old control panel, screw in the new one, connect the ribbon, and then reverse removal steps. Easy!

Dim LCD's on DCS Double Wall Oven

Had the same problem last week - called DCS (which automatically transferred me to Fischer-Paykel) and was able to order the part from them.  They knew exactly what it was, and shipped to me in CA from CA, it was less than $90.  Just installed it, and the new one works swell.  One suggestion - I drew with a Sharpie on one side of each of the three parts that plug into the board to help align the new one, and to install the wide ribbon cable (not really a cable, but you'll know what I mean), pull up on the two side pieces and the ribbon pulls right out.  Keep it up and slide the new one in and then push the black piece down.  That was the only part that took me a minute to figure out.
