Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

Good Morning, I have an ESE18HRA air conditioner in an investment unit that I purchased recently. Recently the tenants wanted to heat the unit but around 10 minutes after turning the ac on the defrost light came on and it failed to restart after that. The outside temp was not excessively cold. The unit worked fine to cool during summer. What do you suggest? Regards.

That sounds like a safety feature. Better units protect themselves by shutting off if the outside temperature is not warm enough to turn the freon into a gas properly.

Running an A/C in the winter could cause liquid freon and thick oil to go where only gas should be and lock the compressor.

We have an in wall air conditioner. I am not sure of the model #, but recently it has started spraying a fine mist back into the room. I removed the front of the unit this morning and found that the foam...

You could have a pin hole in your refrigeration line. The mist is probably the refrigerant coming out. Check the coil very carefully to see signs af any breaks. You may also have a bad drainage and the water is accumilating inside the unit. The fan blades can throw the water against the filter. Look inside for standing water. Good luck!

No A/C Msg. On Control Unit

Apparently the tenant turned off the unit because he was too cool. I explained that basements are normally cool anyhow but he could close some of the vents.

Trane Heat Pump

What caused the power outage? Check the outdoor disconnect to the condenser unit. The fuses may have blown, causing the heat pump to not function and depending on the aux. heat to carry the load.
