Question about Breville Die Cast 800ESXL Espresso Machine

1 Answer

Hallo, I have a Breville 800 Professional, Model BES820. It suddenly won't dispense any hot water through neither expresso head ( same when head is removed- still no water) or frother. The pump is working, and the hot water will eventually seep out at the back of the machine. Both filter and frother head are clean and free for water to come through. There seems to be a blockage higher up within the machine. What do I need to do? I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. Regards Sylvia

The problem is, that no water will pass through the machine, so this cannot work until it can be unblocked internally.

  • You need to decalcify your maker so water can flow through the pluming inside the maker. After regular use, hard water can cause mineral build up in and on many of the inner functioning components, reducing the brewing flow, power of the machine.
  • You should decalcify you machine on a regular basis, every 2-3 months, using a liquid decalcifying agent.
  • For a diluted solution, for softer water, use 1 part decalcifying agent and 2 parts cold tap water.
  • For a concentrated solution, for harder water, use 1 part decalcifying agent and 1 part cold tap water.
  • Run water through the machine with the Filter Holder in place, but without any ground coffee, to rinse out any residual coffee particles.
  • NOTE - don't let the stainless steel filters come in contact at all with the decalcifying cleaner.

    • Well I have seen this happen a few times with this maker before. I am going to put up a picture of the inside pluming of your maker. There is nothing but a inlet pipe that runs to a thermoblock and heats the water up to 204 degrees and then the water runs to where the beans are. When the water seeps out the back as you have stated it is often the water pipe has broke. This requires a send ti the manufacture to fix.

There should be a plastice hinge cover on the left top hinge on freezer door. Take it off and press the plug together firmly. Try that and let me know, Sea Breeze

How to descale a breville one cup

NOTE: Not my instructions i just found something similar.

According to the instructions for Breville Hot Cup (presumably similar to yours - the adjustable flow one):
1. Fill it to the max and dispense one cup of water.
2. Add a citric based descaling product into the cup and stir.
3. Tip contents into kettle and close lid.
4. Dispense water from the kettle, discarding the water until it reaches the 'min' mark.
5. Empty remaining water into sink, rinse out with clean water.
6. Fill kettle with fresh water and dispense cups of water until it reaches the 'min' mark. Empty the rest into the sink, then refill ready for use.

We got a gagia expresso color machine recently. We used it for a week and now the machine is not is not dispensing expresso. The machine makes sound but no expresso comes out. The tank has enough water....

Your are propably need to prime the machine. This mean that air blocked in the machine and need to get out and fill all pipe system with water.
To do this you need to warm up the machine and turn the hot water knob so you will get one cup of hot water from the steam wand. After that try to get some water from the coffee head without any coffee in the filter handle. Now the machine is ready for coffee again. You will need to prime the machine very often so try to remember the procedure. This will happen again usually after you use the steam process and this normal for your machine.

You can get them from Need A Part. They are an online shop, but they have a phone number as well. I think this is the seal you want:
