Question about Frigidaire Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have a frigidaire air conditioner window unit that has been working beautifully for about 8 months.... it has now stopped responding. I will unplug it to turn it off, plug it back in and it shows 0.5 in the display will be blowing full blast and eventually will go off on its own. Then it will turn itself back on.... ghostly :) What shall I do? I have a remote that has been lost. I am sure it will turn up soon but no matter how many time I press the buttons, the unit will not respond... please help ! - Thank you in advance - Dawn -

you may have a factory defective unit that is not turning off the anti-frost heating coil (I have assumed yours contains this item based on your problem description). I would trade it in for a new unit, again assuming you have a warranty or the store offers a good in-store return policy. If this plan bombs, then open the unit and find the heating coil near the cool side of the radiator fins. then disconnect the power wires to the heater and prevent electrical short to wires with quality electrical tape.

Check for power at the plug in, if it's got power take it back under warranty.

How do I fix heat on unit Frigidare Model LRA12HZT2?

There are no heating strips within this unit. This unit has a heater part 5304476390 that you would need to replaced upon a diagnosis.

I turn off the a/c but the compressor don`t stop it continuing running the only way to stop the compressor is when I unplugged the unit, so can you help me to know what part need to be replace. thank you

The Master ON/OFF Switch either needs cleaning or replacing. I'd try cleaning it first with electrical contact cleaner. Be sure the ON/Off Switch is in the OFF position, before you unplug the unit, to take the face off to clean the switch & it's contacts.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

My Frigidaire FAX050S7A window mount a/c unit recently stopped blowing cold air. The fan works fine and i can even hear the compressor turn on when i switch from fan to a/c. do these need recharged?

Hi,
Yes they can leak and will need a recharge....just check first that the leak is very small or can be fixed before spending the money to recharge it...with the low cost of window A/C units you can easily get a repair bill for more then a new one would cost...

I have a frigidaire window ac. THe compressor doesn't shut off. I have to unplug it for the compressor to stop. What could be the problem? Someone told me it could be the thermistor.

If it cools properly, it is not the thermistor. It most likely is the thermostat. Turn the knob to the warmest temperature and see if it shuts off. Still no? Then you can open up the control box. (DANGER--line voltage--can shock you) . Unplug the unit, open up the control box, take one of the wires(either one) off of the thermostat, tape it securely and isolated. If the compressor does not run now, then the thermostat is bad.

Drop in a Frigidaire 25,000 btu, 230-volt Electronic Control Air Conditioner (Model #FAS256R2A). It is Way More Cooling than you need, but it is a very efficient unit and will provide quiet, nearly instantaneous room temprature reduction! Width 26-1/2... Height 18-5/8... Wall Sleeve Included... about $450.
