Question about Samsung BN59-00856A Remote Control

Open Question

The FAVCH button on our samsung remote control (bn59-00856a) has come off the unit. It doesn't appear to be broken (there is a round piece in the center). Before coming off the unit this button would appear to stick and whenI put it back in the unit it does stick> In fact, sometimes it changes multiple channels even when not pressing the button. Is there a way to repair this without replacing the entire remote control unit? Note that this particular button gets significant use as we use this to change channels.

your turning section is not responding to any input, hence needs to be checked by a technician. every thing you have mentioned are controlled by one ic, with its respective voltages.

Use the buttons located on the TV to switch the channel to 3 or buy a universal remote from any local supermarket/drugstore. Or if it's not a rush, get the original from Ebay based on yor TV model

SOURCE: Changing Samsung Remote Codes (2 TV's Same Remote Frequency)

I have 2 LG tvs next to each other, and I used pieces of transparent sheet of plastic with polarizer on the tv IR receiver AND the remote. if you just put the sheets on the receiver, it won't work. The trick here is that when both sheets are in the same space (both vertical or both horizontal) the signal will get through, if they are not (i.e. one vertical and the other horizontal) light (or IR wave) won't pass, ergo, it won't get to one of the devices. you have to put one of the tv polarizer sheets rotated 90 degrees (or one vertical and one horizontal), that way, when you tilt your remote (pointing the tv, but rotated 90 degrees), it will control one tv, and in normal position (pointing the tv and rotated 0 degrees) it will control the other TV. of course, this works if you have nothing between the remote and the tv; if you have a repeater, I don't know what will happen, but I think it won't work (except of course if you do the same thing of putting the plastic sheet in the repeater). You can find plastic sheets from cell phone screens, old calculators, clocks, etc. If this thing doesn't work, it means that your polarizer is not good, and you need to find another one. Hope I had helped a tiny bit :)

Channel selector doesn't work

If only 1 button does not work it may be a problem where some liquid got inside--

Some units have a lockout feature which will disable most or all buttons on the remote and or the set.

If set changes channels with the buttons on the set problem is with the remote--they can be tested easily.

Hello
You might have a cellphone with camera option. Set the cellphone co cemera mode, and place the remote control at about 1 feet away from its camera lens, and press each button on your remote control. Remote control emits infrared rys as we press each button, but can't be detected by human eye. Electronic cameras can detect it. If there is any infrared ray emission from your remote control you will see its image on the camera screen for each button press to your remote control. If there is image and still the Tv doesn't respond to it, The TVs' infrared snsor inside has damaged and should be replaced. If there isn't any image; check the battery contacts of the remote battery compartment first. Clean these contacts by using a piece of corborandum paper or with the tip of a razor blade. Improper battery contacts, due to rust and dust to these contacts will prevent the battery supply voltage to enter into the remote contro.
Still it doesn't work at all, the remote control is damged and should be replaced. Contact the nearest Vizio Authorised Service Cente fro original remote control. OK.

Remote doesn't work even with new batteries

make sure the remote batteries are in the correct + and - way. It could also be that the remote is broken. If nothing comes on when you press the power button and the tv doesn't respond, then the remote is broken and you should buy another one.

It does no obey to any commands other than lighting up with the letters (RC1)

RC 1 or DVD 1 is the unit's default remote command mode. You can try the following with the remote:

While the unit is on, pick up the remote, then press and hold [ ENTER/OK ] and the number [ 1 ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds, then release. Repeat the procedure if it makes no difference and the unit still ignores the remote. If it doesn't work, try new batteries, then repeat the above.

{ You can reset the unit if necessary (press and hold [ CH UP ] and [ CH DOWN ] button together for 5 - 10 seconds on the front panel (not the remote), until 'SETUP' appears in the display). }

Hopefully this should help a bit. You should not need to continuously reset either the main unit or the remote.

Yamaha remote supports only those codes that are in the manual (they are pre-programmed in the remote), so no other code can be used. Your only option is to try codes from different brand in the manual (if not done already) or buy a universal remote, which you can program both for Samsung and Yamaha.
