How to descale keurig elite 40 coffee maker with vinigar

Unfortunately you will need to use vinegar. The acetic acid in vinegar is strong enough to clean most brewing machines.

Use distilled white vinegar.

Can you descale a coffee machine with white vinegor ?

Yes. A 20% solution of white vinegar will descale any coffee maker. I prefer to run straight water for 1 cycle after this process to ensure no vinegar aftertaste remain. I've been using white vinegar to descale my coffee makers for years and it works great.

We have model # BKC800XL - it give us a message about "descale" not sure what that means and how to correct

Just like any coffee or espresso maker, descaling is a process that needs to be done periodically. If your location has hard water, you may need to descale more often than elsewhere, but it's nothing to worry about. It's just a chemical process that occurs as the result of mineral deposits from the water collecting on the elements inside the coffee maker. I'm sure that coffee manufacturers will sell you tablets for descaling, but I've always just used undiluted white vinegar as the reactant. To do this, I recommend: 1. Empty all of the water from the reservoir. 2. Fill with undiluted white vinegar. 3. For this type of coffee maker, brew as many cups as it takes to empty the reservoir, being sure to dump each cup in the sink as it finishes. 4. Once you've run through all of the vinegar from the reservoir, refill with water and run a few cycles to rinse. (You may want to leave the water to soak for a while to give the residual vinegar further time to clean off the minerals.) 5. Fill again with water and rinse. 6. Once you've emptied the reservoir a second time with the water, your machine should be adequately descaled and ready to brew coffee again!

Regardless of setting, I have not been able to get any more than 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup of coffee. The water barely comes out and now the descale message is on the screen. I need instructions for...

Although this is in "Problem with Vacuums," I found it while searching for a solution to my steam cleaner vacuum problem. You must be talking about a Keurig or Breville-Keurig coffee maker. Tap water, especially chemically softened tap water, contains minerals that require periodic descaling, as often as every two months if you make only a couple of cups a day.

Filling the tank with white vinegar and making multiple large mugs without a Keurig coffee cup in the holder will remove most scale. There are products that claim to do better than white vinegar if this does not work. Amazon sells a couple of brands in its Keurig section.

It will take several tank fulls of clean water to rid the machine of the vinegar or commercial cleaning solution. Use distilled water for this. Then switch to good bottled water without a heavy mineral load.

Coffee maker is on. will not make coffee, will not take more water. just sits there like it is dead. descale light came on first. cannot descale because it will not take or give water. help olease.

I would first empty out any water that is in the machine, and get the grounds out. Then, the machine up with a 50/50 mixture of distilled water and white vinegar. You may need to let this sit in the machine overnight because the vinegar needs time to work it's magic. Then turn it on and run this mixture through, if the machine is descaled enough to run. If it doesn't, do it again. The key to descaling is the vinegar, but like I said, it needs time to dissolve the scale. If it works, then run a couple of pot's of just water to get rid of the vinegar smell. Give it a try!

How to descale

Use 1/2 cup white vinegar in 1 quart water. No need to let it sit. After descaling, remember to run at least 3 cycles with clean water to remove any vinegar.

Not enough water making it from holding tank to dispensing cup

your machine is "Short Cupping"

It needs to be descaled. Even though the descale light might not be on yet, the descale light only comes on when it is in SERIOUS need of a descaling. You should descale once every 3 months.

Fill reservoir with distilled white vinegar and leave the machine on for 4 hours (make sure to turn off the auto off option).

after 4 hours, run the vinegar through the machine until the reservoir is empty. Refill with water and repeat twice. you will notice a difference right when you start running vinegar through.
