Your description doesn't match with camera model. would you give more detail? Thank...But I could give rough new idea that you should try...I want you to have any external memory card reader. You put your memory card in it and check it out. You should see some name of folders, try them open and compare what you recognize. If there is your picture, you can just simply download them into you computer. After complete done, you should format the memory card for real clean. you should use external memory card reader or attached in your computer---Not hooking up with camera usb terminal... Good luck with you!

Make sure you use a program that recognizes videos.
iPhoto is for still photos. It does not recognize videos. Try iMovie instead.

Do what the pros do....use a card reader instead of the camera. When you plug it into the USB port, an icon will appear called "NO NAME". Double-click on it and the pics will open in "preview". From there, you can import them to a folder you create on your desktop or into iPhoto. d05ed6a.jpg

Cannot download pictures

Try this...use a separate card reader. When it appears on your desktop as "no name"...double-click on it and select and drag and drop the files into a folder you create on your desktop. From there, it's easy to get them into iphoto.

Trying to upload photos from my Canon Power shot SD780 is to my Mac but when I plug in the cable the camera says "incompatible jpeg". And no icon to upload the photos shows up on my Mac.

if using iPhoto, check for software updates. When the newer cameras come out, sometimes it results in incompatibility with the software and they're always working to update this.
Also check your card in your camera. Some of the newer high speed cards struggle with uploads. You can purchase aftermarket high speed card readers and this will allow firewire rapid uploads direct to iPhoto and Aperture.

iphoto is just for still photos. Use a card reader to download your videos to a folder you create on your desktop. Double click on the video and Quicktime will play it. You can use imovie to edit it.

Can I export photos from iPhoto back into the Canon G9 PowerShot?

No, you can't.
You only can transfer the pictures back to the camera if the pictures were taken by the same model cameras, plus the pictures were not modified.

Get photos onto iPhoto?

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

My canon powershot sd600 is not downloading to my iphotos

iPhoto deals with still photographs. For videos, try using iMovie or some other video management program.

If your computer has a SD card reader, you might be better off putting your memory card into your computer and just copying the data.

Have you made sure your iPhoto is up to date? Perhaps a new update caused this problem.. Maybe you should try an older version of the software. Also, you might want to try other software. (I think you are on a mac?), you might want to try the software that came with the camera, if it works on your computer.
