Question about Ryobi 30cc 17" String Trimmer Zrry30530 Wcurve Shaft

1 Answer

I've got gas (mixture) but it will not start. I haven't changed the spark plug yet but it will be done today. I took the sparkplug out and then plugged it in and tried starting it to see if it had a spark. is this the way to see if I have spark? Also, when I push the prime, the button is clear. should I see actual fuel being sucked into there? Maybe the lines are clogged? This unit is practically new, so i'm kind of upset about it. I'm somewhat mechanically inclined but I could really use some help rather than tear the unit apart. Please get back to me. I really really really appreciate it! Thank you so much. Colby

Spray some ether (starting fluid) in the carb
If it starts you have a fuel problem if not more likely an ignition issue.
Pressing the primer bulb you should see gas flow through both lines if not it could be a clogged filter located at the end of one of the hoses inside the fuel tank, or a leak that doesn't allow the primer to draw gas.
Dirty gas plays havoc on small carbs.
I've fixed a number of "non-starters" by removing and disassembling the carbs and soaking them in clean gas for 10 minutes then blowing out the ports with small engine carb cleaner

My poulan 4018wt has been a hard starter from new. It started to act up out of the blue and started shutting off halfway into the cut and didn't always want to idle right. So I changed the spark plug,

I'd say the most probable culprit is the fuel.... I'd first try dumping the tank out, mixing fresh gas with the addition of a fuel stabilizer and start the saw. It'll quickly vent any old gas in the line and should begin to run fine with the new mix. If not, consider returning it to the service center for adjustment.

Never use gas that has sit on a shelf for months at a time as it becomes 'stale' (for lack of a proper term). Todays 'formulated fuel' can be a cause a bit of a problem for some small engines. Anytime you refuel, shake the can to remix prior to filling.

The oxygenated nature of the blended gas sometimes causes the chain saws to run a little 'lean'...meaning too much air to fuel ratio which could be a portion of your problem. A lean running saw will run hot and scoring of the piston or cylinder wall is possible. Some finely tuned professional saws need carb adjustments between the summer blend and the winter blend gas.

you may need to turn the Hi screw on the carb in 1/4 of a turn. Make sure the gas and mix are fresh.

This could be a bad ground on the ECM. When it is in park it is open loop. When you put it in gear, the ecm goes closed loop with the oxygen sensors and with no ground it dies.

I have a 1999 dodge durango 4x4 SLT 5.9 L. It will turn but not crank. I've replaced the coil pack, spark plugs, rotor button, distrubutor cap,and sparkplug cables. I've listened to the fuel pump...

Let's get The terminology right to start out with. If the engine turns it cranks so you have a crank no start. Am I correct? Make sure you have spark. If no spark check your crank sensor located in the bell housing (transmission). Make sure you got fuel injector pulse, fuel pressure.

My 1969 triumph bonneville keep burning sparkplugs ( every part is new )

Just so we\'re on the same page, by "burnt spark plugs", you mean the porcelain tip is white with no sooty or oily residue, right?

Could be the ignition is retarded too much (with will make an engine run hot)

Spark plug gaps that are too close will not fire lean fuel mixtures.

Wrong carb jetting/adjustment.

Here is a spark plug diagnosis chart:

By "burnt spark plug", I\'m assuming you mean what the chart refers to as "overheating"

Cant find sparkplugs on mitsubshi outlander 2006 4cyl.

Not familar with your engine, but we get a lot of
those questions everyday

The answer is: you either never looked very hard
or have no idea that half of all vehicles today are hemi
head engines & the spark plugs are under the
individual coils, you have to remove first, to get to
the spark plugs.

Not a car person since you were a teen, then I
understand, you haven't keep up with technology

When I see problem with 2006 Mitsu I have no idea
how that got there

This is an open social web site or forum,at home, don't
get paid, don't know anymore than you do, about this site

So what problems if any are you having?
Changing spark plugs won't fix much
They get changed every 3 years or 60,000 miles in the motor

I would guess you have 100,000 miles by now, so the front
O2 Sensors should be changed also

I have a 1999 hyundai accent and the car stalls when driveing it, is their a fuse that controlls the spark for the timming on the engine. We have already changed the coil pack, sparkplug wires and the...

No ,,No fuse controling spark,,Your coil pack on top of motor could be cracked and causeing this or your fuel filter, or fuel pump, you could get a pressure test done to your pump at a garage,Check your spark plugs, change them if you can, change the fuel filter a good place to start,,,,,,,,,,,,Also is there a check engine lite on in the dash cluster? If so go to Auto Zone parts store and get a code scan done its free,,than they will give you a print out of the codes and what needs to be replaced,,most vehecles in the 90,s have or need 02 sensors that control your air fuel mixture,,,were talking gas mileage here.
