Hi Kevin,
Sorry to hear you're having all this trouble.
Have you gone to the Sony site and downloaded the firmware for you Walkman? If you haven't, copy and paste this web address into your browser and download it: >>>> http://esupport.sony.com/CA/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=NWZE353&SelectOS=43#div_pos_94
Also, Sony has a page dealing with how to change to MTP mode at : >>>> http://esupport.sony.com/CA/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=NWZE353
Under "connectivity", click on the "How to confirm the portable player is recognized......" to get to that information page.
Don't try it right at this moment. Sony is doing repairs on that page and it isn't available now. Should be tomorrow I would think.
Once you get the MTP option in your settings, you should be good to go.
Good luck,
Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Keeps me working here... Thanks,
Handie Andie
Hi,
Do you get any error message when trying to sync the Walkman to the Rhapsody software?
When you plug in the player, is it even showing up outside of Rhapsody? (Is the computer recognizing it?) This could be a driver or a bad cable issue, you might want to check that.
Make sure the player is in connection mode of MTP, that is necessary for Rhapsody. (This is on the Sony player's tools/settings menu, Try to look and change it there.)
Hope this helps.
Hi,
There are reasons why MTP in your Sony Walkman NWZ E 353 does not appear when you plug it using the usb. It could be that the computer is running another software other than the one used for transferring. So make sure you uninstall any other software you might have used aside from Rhapsody. Disconnect the USB cable connecting your Walkman, wait a few minutes, and reconnect it. If the problem persists, disconnect the USB cable, restart the computer to make sure that the changes are applied, and then reconnect the USB cable.
[Connecting] or [Connected USB (MTP)] may not appear on the player, depending on the software environment that is running on your computer. So make sure you have installed and activated the newest Windows Media Player in your machine. You might also need to consider the possibility that the cable might not be properly working or might be the USB port as well. Make sure you try to use other available usb ports.
BTW, you should have at least Windows Media Player 11 as part of the requirement.
Hi,

Hi there,
Please make sure that there is enough space for the walkman to save the download.
Are you trying to download it from a computer or directly to the phone?
Hi,
Are you getting an error message when it fails to download?
Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Is it possible if you can provide the error message if there is any so that we can check what seems to be the issue.
Thanks

I dont have the time or patience for this. I want a refund.
iantechson,
The player does in deed need to be in MTP mode. The problem is there isnt any way to adjust that setting in the settings menu. You are the most specific response Ive received so far- but what I need is someone who actually has or at least knows the Sony Walkman NWZ E 353 device and can give me step by step directions for the actual device
walk me thru the menus to access the MPT mode please
I'm not sure which version of windows media I have, but the device is being recognized by both it and Rhapsody. The error message tells me I need to uodate Rhapsody to attain a helix DRM. I proceed thru the steps, Rhapsody reboots, and the message reappears...again....AND AGAIN
Hi Ian-
I must confess that I am somewhat inept as far as following the directions you last gave. It appears that I have the correct version of Media player (12.0.7601.17514?). I also ran the program you provided (i.e. typing in sysdm.cpl) but from there I am lost.
Additionally out of frustration, I did try to exchange the player, as it is not listed as an approved device (altho three "100" series Walkman MP3's ARE).
I could not exchange it and also called Sony live- the voice on the phone assured me that this player will NOT work with Rhapsody, altho it DID when we purchased it. Since then (the purchase) we moved and re-set up the PC only to find ourselves at this point.
I feel that you may have responded well beyond your normal standards, so I am tempted to give up and just buy another, but I fear that that may not resolve the problem at that it IS something with the PC (perhaps during numerous conversations with Rhapsody techs) since we do have a before (worked!)/ after (doesn't work!) scenario with this player.
If you are willing to go thru the last prescribed procedure one last time- either more thoroughly- or perhaps more "fundamnetally" I would greatly appreciate it.
God Bless you
Kevin
