Question about Microsoft Computers & Internet

1 Answer

From last week when I open any Word document or open up Word I don't get any dropdown menus or any tool bars, it's as though I am in Wordperfect mode - which I have never used. I have tried using ESC. to cancel but nothing works - could this be a virus, I don't have any problems with anything else?

This can be a Virus because Viruses can destroy data and information and even steal them. They are also capable of damaging or destroying software. Try reinstalling MS Word and have a good AniVirus software installed at your PC. Make sure you update the AntiVirus and scan your PC regularly, Keep your MS Windows updated

How to save your Open/Libre Office documents by default in Microsoft Office...

There are many people out there who are looking for great open source software, and some of you have stumbled upon Open Office or Libre Office. This is a great alternative to Microsoft Office but with one small problem. It is always trying to get you to save in the Open Document format instead of a Microsoft Office format that your friends and coworkers can open and use. Well I am going to show you a solution to this problem!

Open up any of the programs in the Open/Libre Office suite. Once it is open go into the Tools menu and select "options". From there, expand the Load/Save option and then select "general"

10_3_2011_1_43_09_pm.jpg

Near the bottom you will see a heading for "Document Type". Select the dropdown box under that and select "Text Document" and then select the dropdown box under "Always Save as" and then select "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP". After that go back to the "Document Type" and select "Spreadsheet" and set always save to "Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP". Lastly Choose "Presentation" and always save as "Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP". Once you do this hit "OK" and your changes will be saved. From now on everytime you save a Word document, an Excel spreadsheet or a PowerPoint presentation it will by default save as a Microsoft Office format!

There used to be boxes top left side of my screen, File - Edit - Favourites etc. These enabled me to copy, cut & paste etc but they are now only available while using word. How can I reinstate for

If you are using Windows XP or Vista try clicking on the Tools at the top right of the browser. Click Tools, then click Toolbars, then click Menu Bar for it to remain there each time you open the browser.

If you are using Windows 7 press and hold the ALT key then release it. You will see the Menu Bar pop up near the top of the browser. Click View, then Toolbars, then Menu Bar and it will remain there each time you open the browser.

How do i enable cookies for my browser?

Hello,

In Internet Explorer, go to settings (the gear Icon top right) then select internet options (or from the dropdown menus choose tools -> internet options). On the new window that pop up, go to the 'privacy' tab there you have a slider. Choose your preferred one (lowest setting means all cookies will be accepted) or the default one which is 'Medium'

Hope this helps.

I have lost the file,edit,view,history,bookmarks,tools,help...toolbars..i don't know how i get them all back..

That is the browser "menu bar", with dropdown menus for various tasks.

If the menu bar does not display, press the "Alt" key (if you are using Windows). That will restore the menu bar temporarily. You may then proceed to restore it permanently, by going to the menu bar and selecting: View > Toolbars > Menu bar

I have lost back, forward and edit, history, bookmark, tool etc. on top how can i get it back?

The Firefox "menu bar" includes dropdown menus for various tasks (including "File", "Edit", etc.). If the menu bar does not display, press the "Alt" key (if you are using Windows). That will restore the menu bar temporarily. To restore it permanently, go to the menu bar and select:
View > Toolbars > Menu bar

The Firefox "navigation toolbar" includes the "back", "forward", "reload" buttons, and the address bar (where you type a web address). If the navigation bar does not display, go to the menu bar and select:
View > Toolbars > Navigation toolbar

The Firefox "bookmarks toolbar" displays frequently used bookmarks. If the bookmark toolbar does not display, go to the menu bar and select:
View > Toolbars > Bookmarks toolbar

Hai..

if you really are asking for the parts of MS word 2003,i bet this should help and really there are more than 4 parts

1. The Title bar gives the name of the document and the program being used

2. On the right side of the Title bar are three buttons.
a. The Minimize button makes the window disappear from the screen without closing
the program. You can bring the window back by clicking on its button on the Task
bar at the bottom of the screen.
b. The Reduce/Maximize button makes the window smaller or takes it back to full size.
c. The Close button closes the document or program.

3. The Menu bar offers dropdown menus for things you do in Microsoft Word.

4. The Toolbars display icons that perform specific tasks when clicked. Often the toolbar icon performs the task without offering any options.

5. The Rulers display the tabs, indents, margins and give the user a visual guide for alignment.
a. Tabs are set on the ruler by clicking the spot on the ruler where you want to the tab to
start. Different Tab settings can be used to align text, decimals and indents.
b. Indents and margins can be set with the handles.

6. The Document display window is where the current document is visible.

7. The Scroll bars allow the user to move up and down the document in the window.

8. The Status bar shows the location of the cursor, number of pages and includes advanced toolbar options.

9. The Task bar displays buttons for Open programs or documents.
