Question about Pool & Spa

Open Question

Rheem P-M407A-EN-C Pool/Spa heater does not start. I get the CFH then SPK but the unit just stays in SPK mode and will not turn on. I can hear the sparking cycles. The unit is about a year old and woked great last season. This is the first time I tried it this year. I have seen same question and is exactly what is happening to my pool heater. It is less than 2 years old-same symptons

So now we know what it stands for. Now how do we call for heat? Can we do this ourselves?

SOURCE: Colorlogic Pool Light flashes like strobe

These swimming pool lights have a power-cycled feature. THis means that you can power down the light and then power back up in 10 seconds and the light pattern will change. It sounds like your light is not cycling properly. Power it down for a full 60 seconds. This will reset the power cycle. Then try turning it on and off in 10 second intervals. If it doesn't reset, you bulb may only be partially functioning and it may need to be replaces.

SOURCE: I just purchased a home

They have good listings on their web site.
http://www.rheem.com/product.aspx?id=8B064EC5-B708-4821-9F2B-DEF3A2243F90
That link should be to your model. When you click on the link for your manual (installation instructions)l, if it doesn't download. Right click on the link, and select download
So what is the problem?

Why do I get CFH but then no SPK?

CFH = Call For Heat
SPK = Ignitor is Sparking - attempting to ignite raw fuel

In a lot of cases, Pressure Switch opens up, CFH , is cancelled and therefor no ignition sequence.
try cleaning filter really good. If cartridge, may be time for an overnight soak.

Sounds like your ignitor is shot. You may have to replace it.
