If both the fan and the light are not working, it is likely a connection issue. Lower the fan canopy and/or housing, and check to see that all the wires are connected . As you said wall switch is getting power so its loose wire at the canopy. The remote receiver is in the ceiling canopy of the fan. Remove it and wire the fan as you would without it. Minka aire wall control not working

It comes with a hand held remote. Unless you have the compatible wall transmitter, you'll only be able to use the hand-held remote. The switch on the wall has to be on for the remote to work.

How to i replace the light bulb in the minka aire ceiling fan

This is the concept f518-bn or 519-bn with recessed light.
According to the manual you twist the clear plastic cover counter clockwise. This is on the opaque white lens cover itself.
Manual is found here:

The red and white should be hot all the time for the fan to run even when the light is not in use. The black and white wires are used for the switch on the wall to turn the light on. Hope this helps.

Minka Aire remote controlled ceiling fan

I have a newer Minka w/ wall controller. The books says to make sure both the wall control and the receiver(up in the fan) are both programmed the same. My receiver has no little switches but has a sticker stating that you need to hold the 'fan off' button down for 3 seconds after turning on the power so the receiver can memorize the program in the wall switch. You have 60 sec to do this after power is turned on. Good luck !

You need to change the tiny DIP switch settings so each fan is set up differently. (Note that each pair of remote transmitters--the one in the fan body, held in a bracket above the light kit when you drop that down; plus the one on the wall switch or in a hand-held remote, must be set with the same combination.)
Our Minka Aire Churchill model has 4 DIP switches; I have seen Casablancas with 5.
