Question about Tyan S7002 Motherboard

1 Answer

I have a Tyan S7002G2NR-LE mother board the will not display anything on the VGA monitor. It has 2 Intel Xeon E5520 quad processors installed, NO RAM installed(yet), a Kingwin LZG-1000 power supply (1000 watts), An HP 2509m monitor (in VGA mode) and an HP keyboard. When I power the system on after it has been down a while I get post code 04. If I cycle the power at this point I get post code 01. If I then hit the reset button I get post code 00. There is no sound installed yet so I do not get any beeps. I have tried resetting the CMOS several times and have tried removing the CMOS battery for several seconds before putting it back in. I have also tried an old MaxTech monitor. None of this makes any difference, the monitor remains blank. I assume that since I CAN get to post code 00 there is a high probability the mother board is working properly. Do you have any suggestions? (Does it have to have memory installed for the monitor to work?)

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((motherboard to your hard drive))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error If your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it or you might have a dirty graphics card remove the graphics card and clean the socket hope this helps

NOT ON JUST ANY MOTHERBOARD, that's a quad core, the mother board has to have quad core clocking. You need a server board. All the desktop boards are only dual core clocking.

You can also use any other intel 775 socket processor as well. The dual cores are at the top of the list for performance that are compatible with that board, but if you're looking for a cheaper solution, I have that board with a 3GHz pentium 4 and it runs great. Here's a list of all the processors you can use.
Intel Pentium 4 (2.66 - 3.80 GHz)
Intel Celeron D (2.53 - 3.60 GHz )
Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition
(3.20 - 3.73 GHz)
Intel Pentium D (2.66 - 3.60 GHz)
Intel Pentium Extreme Edition
(3.20 - 3.73 GHz)
Pentium Dual-Core (1.40 - 2.80 GHz)
Intel Core 2 Duo (1.60 - 3.33 GHz)
Intel Core 2 Extreme (2.66 - 3.20 GHz)
Intel Core 2 Quad (2.33 - 3.00 GHz)
Intel Xeon (1.86-3.40 GHz)
Intel 'Core' Celeron (1.60 - 2.40 GHz)

Try booting without expansion cards. Watch your processor temperature carefully. I guess you have problems with processor. Try another processor if you have around. Keep posting.

Having problems trying to get a Tyan i5000xt MB to allow the vid card to come up with a display

  1. If the MB has jumpers, you must make sure they match you CPU.
  2. Make sure you have the right memory modules and that they are installed correctly.
  3. Unplug all drive cables from the mother board (HD, CD, DVD, Etc) and then try to boot. If you see video, plug them back in one at a time.
Hope that helps...
