Hi, you might have three possible cause. first is fpc connector out of place or loose. second is ccd unit function failing. third is digital pcb getting defective. If first one then is inexpensive. but second or third will be very expensive. Maybe your local repair shop would charge you $75 to 150 for first problem. But second or third they can not handle, you should bring it to nikonusa. nikon will charge you around upto $450
Good luck with you?

I have a Cannon PowerShot S2 IS digital camera, about 5 years old. The LCD Monitor and Viewfinder both only show a black screen with some of the Dispay Icons across the top and bottom, and after a few...

A stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, sometimes with lines, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open). To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

When i take picture, the picture is white n some time become very very bright, but if take video is ok.

this can be usually associated with your white balance in still camera mode.
Check to see your white balance is set correctly or just set it to auto. Also make sure the mode you are in it set. (ie. indoor, outdoor, auto, speed)

Recently, I have been experiencing trouble with my Nikon Coolpix P2. When I take photos, the picture comes out with faint white lines across them. The screen itself is fine, but once I press the shutter,...

Hello - from what you said - it sounds more like a sensor problem in the camera.
If the screen looks OK while sizing up a picture , then 'click' Image is stored on sensor which is read as one LARGE matrix of dots and stored into memory.
If the white lines start at this point - ie. viewing the picture while in camera and then after download.
Then, the problem started at the sensor.
I just did a (www.goggle.co.uk) and did a search for problems - and NONE apart from Wi-Fi connections to Windows7 -- all reviews were great.
I would connect Nikon to see what they recommend . -- Ray

Photo has 'lines' across it. New batteries just fitted. Have the settings been reset??? How do I get rid of the lines???

Lines across photo's or over exposure Is due to the shutter not closing correctly. Common cause for this is moisture fouling the shutter leafs. It only has to be a very tiny amount to cause an obstruction. If you turn on your camera and turn the flash off face the lens towards you and look at the lens in the middle you should be able to see the shutter fire across the lens when you take a picture. I know its small but you should be able to spot if there is a gap ( may not be very big) where the shutter leafs meet. What you need to do is remove the lens unit from the camera, dis engage the zoom motor ( the motor nearest the front lens) then remove the main lens to access the zoom lens and remove that aswell. Behind it is the shutter. Undo the screws for the retaining plate, remove the plate, and then remove the shutter leafs for cleanning with lens cleaner or anything that will clean without leaving a residue. And remember not to touch the leafs after cleaning, use tweezers.

Photos taken on zoom have white horizontal lines across them. Photos taken at normal zoom are OK.

Hi!
It sounds like that the shutter cable inside lens is partially broken. It moves with the lens while it zooms, so it could loose contact while stretched - when you have zoomed the lens. Z750 and Z850 have this problem with shutter cable - it breaks. The white horizontal lines are because shutter doesn't work. I'm afraid the cable will brake soon and pictures will be too bright with white horizontal lines even at normal zoom. It is considered a hard repair - the shutter part or whole lens unit has to be changed. You can contact your local Casio service center and ask the price, but it will probably be very high. I work in a Casio service center and new lens for this camera costs about 250$. It's not a good idea to put on used lens or shutter, as it will brake again sometime - it's just a matter of time. I suggest you get another camera.

Hope this helps!

Digital camara and memory card

Basically picture files in memory card have corrupt data that's why computer doesn't recognize it.
HP recommends following action...
Close the HP Image Zone or HP Photosmart Software, disconnect the camera from the computer, and reset the camera. (can see this at HP Support)
2nd option is to find some memory card data recovery software on internet and use it to correct data files in memory card.
Thank you.
