Air dryer. Why is new compressor running hot?

There are several reasons for a compressor to run too hot, including high compression ratio, high return gas temperatures, and lack of external cooling. High compression ratios are the result of either lower than normal suction pressures or higher than normal discharge pressures.

A copper thin tube from the unit is very hot. Is it normal?

Yes, well somewhat normal. The refrigerant leaves the compressor at high temperature and flows through the condenser coil where it cools about 20 degrees warmer than the outside air flowing through the condenser. Many small air conditioner units use a small copper tube (capillary tube) of a specific diameter and length for that system to cause a decrease in refrigerant pressure between the condenser and the evaporator. The refrigerant leaves the compressor as a gas at high pressure, cools in the condenser and changes into a liquid. The liquid flows through the cap tube and cools more as the pressure decreases and gets closer to the evaporator. The refrigerant boils and evaporates under the low pressure of the evaporator and turns back into a gas. That gas is pulled back to the compressor.
If the condenser is not cooling the refrigerant enough, the tube can become extra hot. Efficiency is reduced. Actual temperatures throughout the system depend on the type refrigerant used, suction and discharge pressure at the compressor, outside and inside temperature. Tables, charts and graphs for various pressure-temperature relationships can be found in refrigeration books and chemical web sites.

Compressor leaks at pressure switch

The diaphragm in the pressure switch is leaking. A new pressure switch is the only way to fix it

Pressure switch 120 volt compressor how to bypass pressure switch

Un-plug the compressor and remove the cover to the pressure switch. Inspect wire connections for burned /discolored wires. If not burned, look for button to manually trip switch (switch has on /off lever, place in on position). Test with ohm meter for continuity. Switch is normally closed and contacts are usually visable to evaluate condition. Some compressors use a very small sealed pressure switch that is also normally closed.

Builds up pressure pop off valve at tank opens will not regulate pressure

I would say you have a problem with your pressure switch, you may need to adjust it down. The pressure switch is normally located under plastic cover where your on off switch is on the compressor. There should be a screw with arrows next to it. Try that, otherwise you may need a new switch

Aircon not cooling

If there is no cooling at all , before we go further we must confirm the first step of confirming the compressor and gas pressure. So shut off the A/C and check the compressor.Make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode. If there is no cooling then we have a big issue as the compressor and gas must be checked out. If compressor is running check the pressure, get help to test gas pressure. If not you will need to fill up ,If gas pressure is good the possibility of the compressor being inefficient is high. In such a case you must take consensus to estimate and decide, if RPM of motor is low check capacitor.
So try this test from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.

My stanley compressor will not shut off untill the safety pop off valve activates

The pressure cut off setting is too high. Locate your operation manual and adjust the pressure to the manufactures specs. Normal shut off pressure is @ 125 psi.

2000 Ford Taurus AC compressor not working;I tried putting freon......compressor has to kick-in in order to take in the Freon; compressor wouldn't kick in ; by pass the low pressure switch, Comp didn't...

the compressor doesn't have to be working for the gas to go in
you connect the gas to the inlet line and as the gas pressure in the system rises , the ac compressor will cut in normally and suck in the rest until the pressures are correct
of course you have to be putting in the correct gas because the switches are different

Air Condition

it sounds like a loose compression compressor.

if the compressor is loose compression, normally it sounds noisy. then suction pressure is above normal and if you accelerate and maintains that high speed, let say 2000 rpm, the suction pressure goes down to the normal level and cools your air conditioning .

tnx 4 using fixya...
