Assuming you have not already removed them make yourself a detailed sketch of how the belts are routed (your owner's manual should also show how how they go back on). Remove any guards or retainers (that keeps the belts from jumping off the pulleys) and put the new belts on just like the old ones. Reinstall any guards or retainers you removed. I know this may look complicated but if you take your time and figure out which belt does what it is not all that difficult. Hope this helps.

I have a cub cadet tiller and don't know how to start it?

  • Hi I'm Peter, there should be an on /off switch you need to put in the start position then you can pull start it. You will also use this same switch to turn it off. Make sure you have it in neutral also before you try to start or stop it.

My tiller stopped moving during use, after enitting a puff of smoke. The motor still works well; it does not move, however. Is there a belt that could be burned out? Is this something that can be...

You don't say where the smoke came from but check out the worm gear box and see if gear is eaten up. Supposed to be greased regularly but gear can wear out over time or overloaded digging. . Don't know your model but here is manual on one of them. See if it helps. Look fer it!

My drive belt broke and I can't get a number off of it. Do you know the number for this belt?

Hello, W/D here.
The easiest fix is to take the old belt to an auto parts store and obtain a replacement. All "V" belts are interchangeable. All that's required is the "V" size and belt length, and you'll be fine. Getting "the exact replacement" from Troy-Bilt isn't necessary, and you'll save much by going in this manner.
Best regards, --W/D--

Tillers rotate put in gear wont move was moving just stopped is their a belt or chain in gear box or transmisson

Hi pat,

Yes, there are two chains in the tranny. If the wheels spin freely but don't engage, the smaller chain is broken.

If the wheels don't move, in gear or not, the smaller chain is broken and wrapped around the gears.

It's a bit of a chore to get to....

Need to know what kind of belt to buy for tiller drive.

Always take in your belts ,When possible,to a auto parts store ,there they have a guide to check your belts and they can usually match it up ,If you don't have a belt then your best bet is to contact the manufacturer of the item and it's a best guess that at least they have information as to the correct belt that your looking for ,good luck ,BOB
