Question about Hohner 1896 Marine Band Natural Minor Harmonica, B

1 Answer

The most common problem is drawing on the 2 hole. In both my Hohnner Chromatta10 and my Koch Chromatic. Others seem to have the same problem with drawing on 2 hole. One "expert" said it's not a problem with instrument but with the person, he's not drawing properly. Not true. Please help me. Is there a way to clean it? It seemd like it's clogged. Wade

Sorry, but this is due to the players technique, try changing your embouchure and or reducing the amount of pressure you are using.

SOURCE: Recently I bought 12 hole Hohner chromatic. First

I would be tempted to try spraying CRC226 into the harmonica. It is available at Home Depot in the electrical department, usually near the electrical tape in a blue can about $2.70. It is plastic safe and is a water displacer and a very LIGHT lubricator. If there is crud in there it may dislodge it. It also is good at preventing rust and freeing rusty pliers, etc.

Testimonial: "I don't know if CRC266 is available in the U.K. However I think your idea is very promising and I will try a product like "Electrolube". Thank you. "

Hi Have recently purchased a Honer 280 /64

These harminicas are warranteed and rarely have problems. Either return it to the place of purchase for an exchange or contact Hohner directly. My experience with this company is that they are eager to make things right.

Hohner 12 hole Chromatic, Super Chromonica. A # is " flat."

You can take it apart by removing the two screws, see if any of the reels seem blocked or obstructed by dirt, bits of dust, oxydation (greenish crystalline stuff) or similar, try to remove the stuff that seems to obstruct the reel with a medium hardness paintbrush (you might want to use some alcohol), but be very careful not to permanently bend or otherwise damage the reels, it will ruin the sound of the harmonica.
