Question about Garden

1 Answer

We have an above ground level mounted pond with fountain which has a high (ish) central fountain above the pond and 4 sprinkler side fountains around the pond. we've replaced the previous pump by 3300 pump. Side sprinklers working ok but cannot get the central fountain to work. Fully checked pipe, nozzle etc - no blockages or kinks. Doesn't appear to have enough pressure to pump water upwards and outwards (originially installed a 1300 replacement pump and the 3300 is generating no stronger pressure in sprinklers, and no difference in central fountain i.e. no water coming up and out). We are completely at a loss as to what the problem is. Our electrician is helping and is demented at this stage! Please help!!

Sounds like this is an issue of gravity allowing the lower level fountains to take all the water from the central (higher) fountain.

The pump needs to either be much stronger OR you will need to restrict the flow out of the lower fountains until the upper fountain starts to work OR reduce the number of lower fountains (this is just another way of restricting the flow out of the lower fountains).

I don't have details of your pump and fountain models but you won't get water up to the higher fountain if it can flow out of the lower fountains faster than you can pump it.

Good luck.

How high does this pump example high high can fountain top be if pump is at bottom?

From the photo on the box, it looks like it will through a nice stream 4 to 6' high.

No details available though. Make sure the outlet of the pump is right at the water surface. You will need some rocks, bricks or a hidden floating platform to make it the right level.

If it is below water level, the fountain will be much smaller (may lose half of height for every inch below surface. 1" = 3 feet stream, 2" = 18 inch stream, ...

Waterway hi flo above ground pump hums when turned on where is the starter capacitor did not see it where they normally are?

If not on top of the motor it could be in the back mounted to the end bell. Many motors now don't have a start cap but are wired to get this done. Sorry to say but a lot of motors are ment to be throw aways nowadays.
