Question about Peg Perego Vespa Scooter

2 Answers

I have a 2003 Vespa ET4. The Clock/Calendar display has gone blank. I watched it get dimmer and dimmer until it completely went dim similar a digital watch battery running out of juice. I cannot find where a clock battery might be located. I thought that this display was powered by the scooter's main battery but this battery is fully charged. Any clue to solving this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Mark, San Juan Capistrano, CA

You have to dissamble the write top part around the handlebars to be able to access the battery compartment behind the clock. Uses a watch battery LR43. Then you replace that. There about 11 screws including the two mirrors you have to remove and 12 electrical plugs you have to unplug. It took me approx an hour to remove everything and access the battery compartment.

- you can dot this by yourself only if you have mechanical skills as you have to dismantle the whole dashboard!
- better you ask your vespa-shop to do it on your next service...

My Vespa ET4 Clock Stopped Working, How do I fix it?

The battery that powers your scoot has nothing to do with your clock battery. The clock runs on a small round battery directly under the clock. I had to have my shop do it because you have to open up the entire top cover. Cheap fix, and having the date show is great for us oldsters!

Display panel

Dim display indicates a "failing" electronic oven control. It will continue to get dimmer and dimmer until it fails completely. You need to replace the "clock" (sometimes called the ERC <---Electronic Oven Control)

This is a tricky repair. Be sure you have the power off (at the breaker box) before attempting this.
