Have an HP s3120n. Part the the attraction was the TV tuner card. The TV tuner worked for about 2 months, it was great to be able to pull up live TV and surf the internet at the same time. But now every time I go to the windows media center and select Live TV, I get a TV Tuner not installed error. I have not opened the case or installed any new hardware, so I'm not sure why it would have all of the sudden stop working.
"TV tuner not installed." I checked connections, installed new driver, installed new tuner and drivers. SAME RESULTS... Problem started about the time the update #3 came out. I thought about un-installing U3 and reinstalling the media center but I'm chicken,. Not that much a geek. I am running the computer now without tuner installed so as not to have the window popping up saying...TV tuner not installed.

You can not change channels on Satellite with your TV tuner card. The satellite box decodes the sat signal (it is sent encrypted) you can run S-Video/RCA/HDMI depending on the video card input, but you will be required to change the channel on the Dish box. The TV card can only change channels on broadcast (over the air) channels, you can attach an antenna and it will use the NTSC tuner to change analog channels (if they are still available) and the ATSC tuner to change digital/HD broadcast channels. This card (from your description can ONLY deal with broadcast TV, You will need a TV card with a QAM tuner for unscrambled digital cable. There is no solution for directly interfacing with Satellite on a PC or Mac (DirectTV or Dish) the signal from the satellite is encrypted and requires (at least for DirectTV, a fairly complicated decryption setup to function, this is handled by the tuner box/card combination. Sorry your setup will not support changing the channel on the PC, you may be able to find some kind of software that can utilize an IR transmitter to change the channels on your satellite box, similar to the way a Tivo or other DVR can talk to cable boxes, but that is the best you will be able to do as far as channel changing.
wipe all tv related software from pc delete tv card entry from device manager and reeboot windows will find card and ask to install software again this should fix it if not card may be faulty should check card in another pc before trashing it.
Depending on which kind of tv tuner you are looking (analog basic cable) or HD tuner, the higher end tv tuners will usually handle both basic cable or connecting via satellite or some sort of set top box.
I would look for the ATI TV wonder HD, your going to want a tv tuner that can do hardware encoding on the actual tuner itself, older tuners will rely on your pc to process a lot of the data.
i am not an expert, but have lots of experience with my own media center. by moving the tuner card you changed the address of it which if the os does not recognize new hardware, it will not install the drivers for it. i believe you will have to use the device manager to reinstall the drivers for the tuner card. also will have to redo the setup for the tuner in media center. another problem with the softare change is you have to update the security components to be able to view certain channels.
you can find the best information for all these subjects at your computer manufacturers support website and of course microsoft for the security components. good luck, it should not be too difficult to solve your delemna with a little research and searching there.
This sounds like a poor put together pc.
If the DVD drive does not eject then either the dvd is faulty or the IDE cable and/or IDE1 connector on motherboard is not installed, try ejecting through my computer(right click on drive then Eject), if this works the button is faulty.
The same goes for the TV Tuner card, again possibly a corrupt or non installed driver, try re installing mother board drivers and card drivers.
This really needs to be returned as the pc is not fit for it's use.
