I'm trying to use my dish remote and it won't

Hi Alison, my name is Kimberly and I form part of the Social Media Department with DISH. I apologize for the delayed response. At this point I'm sure you probably don't need assitance anymore but would like to provide it to you anyway just in case you need it in the future. If the remote lights still come on, the remote may only need to be addressed to the receiver.

First make sure that you are using the correct remote control in case you have more than one dual receiver at home. If you do, check that your UHF remote antenna is securely connected to the "Remote Antenna" port on the back of your receiver and that the antenna is upright. Try addressing the remote again. Please take the remote to the TV1 location (where the receiver is) once you are here, Press 'System Info' on the front of the receiver, this should take you to the System Info screen. On the System Info screen towards the bottom you will see listed 'Remote address 1' and 'Remote address 2' grab the remote that needs to be addressed. On the remote, press and hold the clear SAT button at the top for 5 seconds (once the buttons begin to flash) press the number 8 button on the remote, and then the 'Record button 3 times' This should re address the remote to the receiver and should now work. Would you like to program the Universal Remote that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume of your receiver, tuner, or stereo instead of your TV's volume?

e818a57.jpg

The first step in using the Universal Remote Control that came with your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 to control the volume level of your receiver, tuner, or stereo is to program the remote to control your audio device using the AUX mode button.

Once your remote controls your audio device in AUX mode, you probably want to continue to control the volume of your stereo even if the remote is in SAT, TV or VCR mode.

To setup your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the AUX button until all the mode buttons are lit, and then let it go.
  2. Press the POUND (#) button.
  3. Press the PLUS side of the VOLUME button.
  4. Press 0.
  5. Press the POUND (#) button. The AUX button flashes three times to tell you the programming is complete.
  6. Confirm the VOLUME buttons are operating the tuner/amplifier's volume control by pressing SAT or TV, and then adjusting the volume. Your tuner/amplifier's volume should change rather than your TV's volume.

Your Dish Solo DVR VIP 612 Universal Remote is now setup to control the volume of your stereo regardless of which mode it is in

I hope that helps.

Second remote won't work

DISH here, hi Tom! I ran across your post and would like to help with the solution. First we need to make sure the receiver is on Dual Mode. On the front of the receiver under Mode' make sure the light is on Dual also make sure the remote that's not currently working is on SAT mode. You can check this by trying to change channels using the remote and making sure the SAT button is the only that light up at the top. If both of this procedures do not work, we will need to address the remote to the receiver. To address the remote to the receiver: bring the remote to the t.v one localtion which is where the receiver itself is, by using remote number on press menu twice, a screen called System Info should appear on the screen. Once you have accessed the System Info screen, toward the bottom of the screen there should be something that says Remote address one and two and each will have a white box next to them with a number in it. Then grab the remote that's not working and press and hold the SAT button until all the light at the top light up, release the button and enter the the number 15 followed by the pound key (15#) after this press the record button 3 times. Verify that the number that was in Secondary Remote Address is now showing 15. Now, using remote one select cancel out of the System Info screen. If you have any issues please feel free to email me at kimberly.escobar@dish.com

My remote doesn't work, it won't change the channels

It sounds like the remote would need to be address to the receiver. This needs to be done from the main TV location, and I have listed the steps below!

Addressing Remote to Receiver:

1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
6.) Test remote and see if works.

Hope that helps!

The tv is jammed. Remote is fine but have pressed the wrong button

It sounds as though you might have just accidentally pressed a button and changed the remote into an incorrect mode for example, tv, or aux modes. This would in fact prevent the remote from successfully working with the DISH Network receiver. If this is in fact the problem, then the remote simply needs to be put into "SAT" mode, once its back in SAT mode you will then be able to change channels, select menu, power receiver on and off, etc. The "SAT" button is labeled & in the upper left hand corner of the remote to put the remote back in satellite mode, please just press that SAT once and then release, the SAT button should briefly light up red & then the light will go out, you should then be able to use the remote again, to ensure remote was successfully changed back to SAT mode, you can press select or any other button you chose & as long as the SAT button lights up when you press another remote control button- then your all set to go & everything should be working once again! I hope this helps -please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

Press pound ( AUX button will flash 3 times) 6. Press SAT mode 7. Test the volume on Bose Solo. (see page 22 of Bell 9242 guide)
