I checked all the sensors with a multimeter and they all show continuity. what do I do next?

  • dalekeenan May 21, 2011

thank you for sending me the diagram. However, it is so blurry that I cannot read it, not even with a magnifying glass. Is it possible you could get a better image and resend it,

  • dalekeenan May 22, 2011

Unfortunately, I don't have the knowledge to understand the wiring diagram. Is there anywhere on the internet I could find pictures of the wiring to the motor.

I did find one switch that comes out from the motor. It is screwed to the floor right next the the belt tension idler. It does not show continuity. do you think it could be the problem. I think it may be an overload switch. I was thinking about by passing it temporarily to see what happens.

  • dalekeenan May 22, 2011

this was actually a a belt tension switch. It's purpose is to cut the power if the belt breaks. the price on this thing is about $70.00. I'm thinking about leaving it off. What do you think?

This issue is due to faulty thermal fuse that is located inside the rear panel to the exhaust duct that is bad and should be replaced. If you want you can test this fuse for continuity and if bad replace it as it cannot be reset. If the fuse is fine then check the thermal cut off and replace if necessary. Please check these videos for details---

Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Yes you are right that is the overload switch you can try to bypass it. If the issue returns then it is the motor...if its solved then replace the switch

Fan outside isn't running and when turned on the unit outside is running very loud.

The fan outside keeps your compressor cool, the compressor, if left running without the fan running to cool it down can get damaged, the fan normally gets its power from a switch box located outside or near
it. or the motor on the fan could have just gone bad. the fan motor is not as expensive as the compressor to replace. its easy to replace. sometimes what goes out 1st on these motors is the capacitor, the capacitor stores enough voltage to give the motor that extra push to turn. many times its just the capacitor that goes out. when you purchase a motor make sure you also get the matching capacitor.if you can turn the fan and it starts running, its the capacitor, if it starts running and has any kind of bearing noise then you will have to replace the motor. good luck!

Maytag dryer goes on but clothes are not turning

Can you turn the drum by hand? If not there is something Jammed in the blower housing.Do you hear the motor running? Is there Air blowing out the back? If there is air blowing out & you hear the motor it will be the belt. If you do not hear the motor & no air is blowing out then hold the door switch in & turn it by hand as you push the start switch it might start working, If it does it wont last long. If it does not start it is the motor.

Well pump Sta-Rite MSE-7 now and then won't kick in and buzzes --I replaced the pressure switch-Same thing --Sanded internal points on top of motor same thing pump gets warm contacts in pressure switch...

In the back of the motor you will find a start capacator. This will be a brown or black cilinder 1" around x 2" long. With the power off unhook the wires to it and note where they go, their will be two or three. You will need to go to a motor shop or a good pool store to get a new one. Then just plug it in and you should be good. If this dosen't help than you may have problems in the windings of the motor and will need to replace it.
The start cap supplys a boost of power to get the motor turning. Once it starts then the cintrifical switch kicks out and opens the points in the back of the motor. When it goes bad then the motor just hums and won't start turning. Be sure to replace with the same cap. The numbers you need will be printed on the side of the cap. Good luck.

When the push start button is pushed in the dryer starts and every thing is ok until you release the button then all stops. I have replaced the bank of push button and just relaced the timer controls.

Good day,
Seems you've covered the timer and push to start switch.
If so then....
The principle the system runs on is, if the timer is turned on, 2 wires come out of it to run the the motor.
The first goes to the push to start switch and when pressed it sends power directly to the motor.
The second wire goes to the motor, but thru a centrifugal switch that must be up to speed before it sends power to the motor.
That is why it continues to run even when you release the start button.
The centrifugal switch is a part of the motor.
Either the centrifugal switch failed, or the power wire to it is disconnected or broken.

I have an older kenmore gas dyer. as soon as the door is shut it starts running with out pushing the start button, and it doesn't shut off till you open the door . is it the start switch or the timer that...

Good day,
It could be either the push to start switch, or the centrifugal switch on the motor. You would need an ohm meter to check the push to start.
The way the system works, is the power goes first to the door switch, and then the timer.
If the timer is in the on position, it sends power out on TWO wires.
One goes to the push to start switch, which in turn goes to the motor, bypassing the centrifugal switch.
The other power wire goes to the centrifugal switch, and thru it to the same place on the motor, but only if the motor is already up to speed.
That's why it under normal conditions it will continue to run when you release the start switch.
Hope that helps.

Maytag Dryer won't start withouth me turning the drum.

Good day. Ugly problem.
My first choice would have been the motor, but.......
Here is the process, it might help you.
The power to the motor goes first to and thru the door switch. It then returns to the timer.
When the timer is turned to any running position, power leaves the timer where it is split into 2 leads.

One of the power leads goes directly to the centrifugal switch Which is the switch on the motor with all the wires. If you spin the drum, you also spin the motor, and if spun fast enough will close the contacts on the cetrifugal switch, thus sending power to the motor, allowing it to run. I guess you have done that.

The second lead out of the timer goes to the push to start switch, it then leaves and goes to the centrifugal switch but on the power side, so it is directly connected to the main winding in the motor.
That is why when you press the press to start switch, the motor runs, and if held in it will continue to run.
In fact, at this point, the motor had 2 sources of power, either of which can run the motor.
Thus releasing the push to start switch doesn't matter, since it runs off the other source.

The centrifugal switch is not wired right. Please recheck. (or the motor was bad out of the box. Happens).
The push to start switch is bad, and needs replaced.
Or, the wiring going to or leaving the push to start switch has broken or making a bad connection.
Lastley, I said the power comes out of the timer and splits into 2 circuits. Not always true, in some models the timer sends 2 seperate wires out carrying the power, with the possibility the timer could be bad.

Hope this helps.

F90 Maximum oven door unlock time exceeded.
F91 Maximum oven door unlock attempts exceeded.
F92 Maximum oven door open time exceeded.
F93 Maximum oven door lock time exceeded.
F94 Maximum oven door lock attempts exceeded.

1. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check the wiring between EOC & Lock Motor Micro Switch.

2. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Replace the Motor Door Latch assembly if necessary.

3. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check for binding of the Latch Cam, Lock Motor Rod & Lock Motor Cam.

4. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Check to see if Lock Motor Coil is open. If open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

5. (F90, 91, 92, 93 & 94) Lock Motor continuously runs - if Micro Switch is open, replace Lock Motor Assembly.

6. (F92, 93 & 94) Check oven door Light Switch - if open, replace Switch.

7. If all situations above do not solve problem, replace EOC.

F90 is a door lock code, Try this...
unplug the range.
wait 1 minute.
turn the range back on,
then while holding in on the oven door.
start another self clean.
wait 2 minutes.
then cancel the self clean.

do not release the door until the door lock light goes out.
