You must use a firewirecable to stream from camcorder if it's a digital 8mm it will have a dv port-get cable and hook to computer if it also has same port-if not digital get a pinnacle dazzle box to convert your red yellow white outputs to digital for usb-usb is only for stills or webcam on 8mm cam

There are USB connectors that can import analog video and put it as digital on your PC. (software for that is most of the time included)
There are also firms, that will do the sae job, but it will cost Twice as much as a USB converter for each tape you have.

Just check the net for a simple USB converter. There are lots of converters, from perhaps $ 40 to thousands of dollars. chose a cheap solution where you can import video and audio in the same time. Should be a connector that fits on your camera or recorder.

Finalized a Sony DVD-RW in a Handycam and now it asks "Make the disc recordable? DVD menu will be deleted. Yes/No. Not sure what I want.

Hi.

The answer you want here is no. If you choose yes the Handycam will erase the data on the DVD-RW and get it ready for you to record on again. Now the disk is finalized thats the end of the burning process and the disk is done.

Regards.

Hi,
It seems problem with hard disk that need to be formatted, please make sure you have copied/ transferred recorded files in computer or format HD will delete every thing on HD.
Press Menu button on lcd screen and select settings then select HD and select Format, it will take little time to format hard disk.
Now you can record in camcorder.
Hope this will help.

I have a windows 7 operating system & i am trying to move video from my Sony Handycam DCR hc36 Are there simple instructions to download/transfer the video, save it, burn it to a DVD & then...

Get a dvd-r disc. Insert it into the computer. Open My Computer and go into the disc. Format the disc if necessary. Select the format type you prefer (I use Live File). Keep that window open and plug your camera in by USB. Once connected, go into My Computer again, double-click your camera's icon, go into a folder (that should be called) DCIM which is the folder your camera stores pictures and video in. Find your video(s) and drag them into the dvd disc's window. Those files should appear transparent which means they are ready to be written. Look at the toolbar and find Burn to Disc. Disc tray will open once burning is complete.

Cant load pictures to computer

Try to hookup your camera to your computer's usb port using a usb cable. Then right click on your windows Start button and choose Explore. Look for the drive letter of your camera and click it to show the contents on the right. Double click to open those folders until you see the picture files. Just select them and drag it to your computer's local drive.

According to the website, it is just USB and USB2.0 compatible...
You should still be able to download to your computer using the USB port, I presume?

No USB

It looks like this unit has a video out to a t.v. or vcr hookup. What you can do is download it to a vcr [ record it ] and pickup a vido frame grabber, what you are going to do is snag the photos from the video tape after recording them on tape. This is the only way unless you wish to tear up the unit; desolider the chip and using software retrieve the photos. If you are good with a solidering iron; digi key sells the usb port you woll need to replace.
