1 Answer

Just bought a used JVC GR-HD1 camcorder. Bought two new SanDisk SDHC 8GB memory card. When I press "record" I get a "card error" message with both of them. Are they the wrong type of card. The folks at Best Buy assured they where the right type.

This camera can not use an SD card of that size. Just like with any computer intergraded hardware, they have to write parameters of that day into the operating system of the device. They can not just leave it "open ended" to allow any size that might be available in the future. I believe the maximum is 1GB of standard SD speed (as in not the max of ultra speeds). 1GB would be more than enough at the resolution this camera will store still frames (it can not store video on SD cards). This is from personal experience with my own GR-HD1U.

4 SDHC 8GB Card Error that"this card cannot be used to record or edit" What can I do? Thanks!

The message is clear. You cannot use the card.
You can check the manufacturer's website to see if there a new firmware. If there, is update the firmware (anyway) and hope it will support the card format. If there is no new firmware, read the manual for the type of cards and capacities supported and buy compatible cards. The old card can be returned to the store, sold to someone, or saved for future devices.

Memory card error

The GR-DF570 uses SD cards. Your 8GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot it's electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller.

If you need a manual, you may download a copy here.

My JVC-GRHD1

This camcorder will use SD cards. However it will not use SDHC cards such as your 16GB Lexar card. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Hi,can you help me? what is the correct size, type, make , memory card for a jvc gr-d72u camcorder.

The GR-D72U does not support SDHC cards. You need to use SD cards 2GB and smaller. You can use any brand, though I'd stick with major brands such as Lexar, PNY, and Sandisk.

Do JVC GR-D33US Mini DV record video on memory card?

Yes. You can use any MMC or SD card. Be sure you get an SD card, not an SDHC card, if you go this route.

I put a new 4gb sandisk hc memory card into my jvc gr d270u video cam and i get card error message with or without the card unlocked.i can not go to the format menu with the card in place.

Hardware of this camcorder supports up to 2GB memory card so 4GB is more than its capacity and causing error.
Try 1GB or 2GB memory card in camcorder.
Thanks.

Just output via the AV jacks, and use a TV/Video input card or USB dongle. You can then Play the DVR, and Record on the PC, With Video Recording Software, through the Video Input. On your chosen device. You can get Component, or Composite Video IN. Audio is in Stereo. Then you will be able to be able to use your camera again... ?

GR-D90 will no longer record onto memory card

Hey,
The card error comes most likely becouse the card is not formated properly, there should be a format card option in the menus somewhere.

Also try to restore the camera to default settings it should restore it the way it was.
I'll look into it, Thanks, report back how this goes.

Sd card

Hi!
I'm happy to say that your camcorder is capable of recording to SD cards with capacities greater than 2GB, as it is SDHC compliant.
However, I must ask why the SD card capacity would be of interest in a camcorder like this, as it records its video to MiniDV tape, and its photo function is limited to low-res stills.
Hope this helps!
