Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your "((MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE))" make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections to continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

I am attemping to load linux, ubuntu, on to a dell with an intel board, it is not accepting the hard drive during install of the os, i was wondering if there was was mother board reason, a jumper fix?

you have to format your hard drive using a third party disc to erase everything on your hard drive

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS the scroll down to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
if its not accepting your hard drive test the leads that attach from motherboard to hard drive make sure they are securely seated with no dust built up or replace them they could be faulty
hope this helps

Cpu not getting on but led light in motherboard is on when power supply is no

This means power supply is OK. Simply check the boot order in the bios settings. if ok, then boot from a bootable cd. if not, correct the booting order making sure that the hard drive drive c: is2nd after CD.

My computer can not start

If the power LED lights up, then unplug the power cord and re-seat the RAM. If it still does not boot up take the RAM to you friendly computer shop and get them to test the RAM for you.
If there the power LED does not light up then you could have a faulty power supply. Try a replacement power supply (borrow one).
If this still does not boot up, you may have a faulty motherboard.

Acer aspire m1201 not booting up - I powered it down normally and moved it to another location. I have opened up the tower and I have reseated anything that I could and pushed on other cords that were...

Please check to see that the LED light on the motherboard is lighting up. Also, if the BIOS appears on the monitor, please make sure that the hard drives are properly connected and that you can hear then spinning and/or see the Hard Drive LED light up. It sounds as if your motherboard is receiving power, but something else is not. Please also make sure that your processor's heat sink is properly seated and secure.

Check CMOS battery(Coin shaped battery), it should show 2.5-3V, if not then replace and check, you can even try and test the mbd without the CMOS battery. Some mbd does not boot with a faulty CMOS battery.

Your motherboard has died .
No beep code explains it all .
LED lights and even fans spins only tells me that your getting power to the motherboard , but No beep code is crucial .

Try defaulting the cmos, this is best done by removing the battery from the main board and shorting the terminals in the battery carrier (bend up a paperclip so it sits on both terminals by its self), make sure the power is unpluged first, it will take about 1/2 hour to completely reset, then try to boot, if sucsessful the cmos will need to be setup again
good luck
