Question about Mitsubishi WD-57732 Projection Television

1 Answer

Hi! We have a Mitsubishi TV WD-57732 and all the sudden, the composite and input 1/2/Front ports are not working anymore. Spent aan 1.5 hour on the phone with Mitsubishi tech sup trying a bunch of things which none worked. Because all ports seem to be unrecognizable by the TV, Tech Sup told me that I needed to re-initialized the software of the TV (now, this is different than the "MEnu" 1,2,3 steps). Anyone knows how to re-initialize the software? Or any other solution would be welcome as the kids are going crazy not having the Wii working... BTW, the Wii and DVD are working on other TVs in the house so I know that they are not the problem. The TV does not automatically recognized new devices connected... does not make any sense as everything was working find 2 weeks ago! Thanks for your help...

    Thanks for the quick response.

I did the steps you proposed, the input and composite ports are still not recognized. Any other suggestions?

    Regards, Julie

It did reboot the TV but still do not see the Wii in the input port nor the DVD :-(

Any other suggestions? Does it mean it is not a software but a hardware problem?

    Really appreciate your help.

Thank you so much. Wow! 12 hrs difference! It is amazing how the internet can make the world smaller. Mitsubishi already gave me the name of a recognized repair shop in my area, I will give them a call Monday.

Thank you again, you were very helpful.

Hi Julie,
Restore the unit first to "factory settings" by following the steps below.
> Enter the service adjustment mode by pressing "Menu - 2 - 4 - 5 - 7"
> Press " 0 " when in the service mode. Three choices will appear at the top of the screen.
Scroll down to "Restores factory set values" by pressing the Up & down keys then press "Enter"
Try the unit. Let me know if the symptoms still persist.

    Try again the steps below.

    Front Panel Initialization :

While the unit is ON, pressing the FORMAT and INPUT buttons simultaneously will immediately start the Initialization sequence. The TV will reboot once the initialization sequence is completed.

NOTE: During Initialization, the set will reboot. Wait until the Power LED stops flashing before unplugging or powering ON the TV.

yes your right. you've anticipated what I will say. The caused of this problem is the faulty IC2k01 (AN15870A) also know as the video switch IC. I've already checked my link online for the parts availability but sad to say this is hard to find. I will advice you to contact Mitsubishi service center for parts availability.

But of course this kind of symptoms need to check by a qualified Mitsubishi Technician because bad solder joints and other parts in the circuitry must be check.

I have a Mitsubishi WD-57732. The problem started

Lamp did not turn on at P-ON sequence
(No Lamp inserted)
(Disconnected cable between ballast and lamp)
(Lamp-Enable goes to DM but not to Ballast) It's related to the lamp.

Mitsubishi WD-57732 LAMP continuously burns out. I have replaced four in two years. We don't watch alot of TV.

There are a few issues here:

The lamp you are purchasing could not be OEM, or a compatible lamp--OR you have a ballast/power supply issue blowing the lamp out.

The original lamp is manufactured by Osram, but a better and compatible lamp would be Philips, who pioneered the lighting for DLPs. The ballast needs to be compatible with the lamp and Mitsubishi ballasts are compatible with most lamps, but work best with Philips and Osram. Only buy from an authorized dealer!

My mits 62827 doesn't show the composite inputs, hdmi inputs, and the front tv input and they don't work when I plug stuff into them. I have tried to reset the tv, and tuned it off and unplugged it but it...

This set should have a soft reset and a hard one---try the soft reset first----with the set on and using the Mitsubishi remote MENU, 1, 2, 3, enter.

The set should turn off and come back on. Check to see if the missing things are back. Usually this happens if there was a momentary power outage etc.

You may have to auto program the set and on some models it removes labels(instead of DVD etc it will say video input) BE DONE OVER.

Let me know what happens and if you need help let me know.

If this helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

Try a hard reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.
