Hi:
this usually means there is a short some where in your setup, start with the speakers by disconnecting them one at time while turning on the unit after you disconnect one. If all speakers check ok then the problem resides in the amplifier itself, could be a shorted output transisor.

"S-Protection"

I have disconnected all wires from the back of player, and it still turns off and says "s-protection". If I unplug it and plug it back in, it will work for about 30 seconds then goes off. Would that mean there is a short inside the unit itself?

B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.

hi,
may be ur amplifiers any of the output channel have some problem. that's why it goes off after power on, protecting ur speakers. disconnect all the speakers and inputs and then power on it if works check ur speakers and inputs. if not there is fault inside ur amplifier.

There is a short making the radio protect itself by cutting out to prevent it blowing up..
Check all wiring for any touching and check all fuses for radio in fusebox under the hood.

When i turn up volume on receiver it display protected and then i loose sound on my sony str-d865 receiver

That's a protection circuit in the output of the speakers. It indicates a short, or abnormally low resistance of the speaker itself. Disconnect the speaker wires from the unit, and see if the message goes away. If it did, you have a problem with your wiring, or the speaker itself.

Kenwood KDC 241 SA car radio 'Protect'.

you could have a shorted speaker wire, a blown speaker; or the output ic in the deck itself could be bad.

I have a 200 watt jensen car amp and the protection light keeps coming on when i turn the gain up.

The amp has no way to cool itself off, so it goes in to protect when it gets hot to keep from breaking stuff and blowing a fuse.

Protect mode??

Check your speaker wire and terminals at the speaker, it's shorting. The receiver goes into protection to keep from causing damage to itself.

Onkyo ts595 goes into protect mode with volume increase

HI check your speaker cables are not touching, also make sure "b" speakers are not on and that all your speakers are 4ohm or higher as this will cause the amp to shut down if they are to low an impedeance,The amp is protecting itself when it shuts down.

hope this helps.

protection mode activated to protect from serious damage and please follow me.1-shut down your system2-make volume in low position3-remove all your connected speaker4-switch your system on and watch if it does not go to protect mode insert your speaker one by one until you find the bad one and change it and start with cable change first and then speaker itself-if it goes to protect mode you must call service center.
