Question about Datalogic Barcode Scanners

Configuring (changing) barcode reader suffix

I was told or read that it is fairly easy to change the suffix a Datalogic barcode reader uses after reading a barcode from 'enter' to 'tab' but I haven't been able to figure out how to do so, following Datalogic User Guides or using a Datalogic software utility.

Scanner won't scan library barcodes.

The barcode reader is something that the backup software typically uses to identify which tape it is dealing with.
So typically your backup software can already natively read the barcode and therefor you don't need any other software.
The linked barcode reader is probably for reading a barcode that was provided via a picture (from a scanner or camera). This has nothing to do with the barcode reader that can be part of a tape library. NET UPC Barcode Reader

Datalogic QS6500BT barcode scanner and 2D codes

Usually some symbologies are disabled at default.

i think you need the manual and scan the barcode to enable it for scanning.

the links is:

https://easeofaccess.scanning.datalogic.com/public/marketlit/Send.aspx?file=R44-2816A

it's chapter 6-191 or page 279 in pdf.

you have to begin with scanning "Start" en end with scanning "END"

becarefull with printing this page and not the whole manual. there are 336 pages.

good luck

PSC 6000 Plus not scanning

There are a few questions:

What kind of cable do you use?
USB, SERIAL, PS2

What kind of computer?
Normal computer or Laptop?

Then...

When you recieve the scanner like new you always have to program it.

First you do

Reset to factory defaults.... Never do this with working scanners

then

you have to program it.

First the Connection type
and then if needed a computer type.

After that you usually have to scan a suffix.

This means when you scan a barcode it needs to do something after.

normally it doesn't give Enter after you scan.
That is what the suffix is for.

and then you scan additional symbologies to scan

Like Code 39, UPC A etc. etc.

It needs to be programmed with the manual you recieved.
if you don't have it you can download here.

http://www.scanning.datalogic.com/sitefiles/manuals.aspx

go down in the list to quickscan 6000
and programming manual.

please don't print all the pages. only what you need.

If you need more help i will hear it.

good luck.

Problems with very small Barcodes

Default settings set a global limit of 4.

You can set the global minimum code length by following the instructions in the user manual on page 24:

1) Start
2) Set Global Min Length
3) Scan the number on page 303: I.e. '0' followed by '3' to set length to 3
4) Set
5) End

Will not read barcode correctly

La configuracion por defecto en el lector puede necesitar cambiarse para el tipo de codigo de barras que intentas leer. Descarga el manual para cambiar los parametros del tipo de codigo de barras que intentas leer. The default setting in the reader may need to change the type of barcode you are trying to read. Download the manual to change the parameters of the type of barcode you are trying to read.http://www.ute.com/files/manuals/103_MS210%20Users%20Manual.PDF

Datalogic Heron D130 (Barcode Reader) Header setup

Whether or not you can set this feature depends on which interface type you are using if you are using wedge interface then the procedure is described below: The extended Header/Terminator keys for Wedge Interface users can be customized by defining them through a simple keyboard setting procedure. For example, the Numeric Keypad keys can be set for use as Headers or Terminators by substituting the default extended keys using this procedure. The type of computer or terminal must be selected before activating the keyboard setting command. Press and release a key to set it. Some characters may require more than one key pressed simultaneously during normal use (refer to the manual of your PC or terminal for keyboard use). The exact sequence must be indicated to the reader in this case pressing and releasing the different keys. Example: If one has to press the "Shift" and "4" keys simultaneously on the keyboard to transmit the character "$" to the video, to set the "$", press and release "Shift" then press and release "4". Each pressed and released key must generate an acoustic signal on the reader, otherwise repress the key. Never press more than one key at the same time, even if this corresponds to the normal use of your keyboard. Press "Backspace" to correct a wrong key entry. In this case the reader emits 2 beeps. Note: "CAPS LOCK" and "NUM LOCK" must be off before starting the keyboard setting procedure. "SHIFT" must be repressed for each character and cannot be substituted by "CAPS LOCK". Check page 31-33 of the "heron reference manual", downloadable near the bottom of this link page; http://www.datalogic.com/_vti_g2_dwnlDett.aspx?idCF=1&idC=44&rpstry=13_ Hope this helps :)
