Replace the front bellow or front seal, as it may be called. It is an inner tube shaped rubber liner that seals between the front of the washer door and the front of the drum. The cost is about $35.00-$40.00 and you will need the kit as it includes the rubber spacers that are essential to doing the job. The job takes about 1 1/2 hours to complete. It is not hard, but it is dedious and requires some basic skills. Directions included in the kit are helpful. You can do an internet search for the part and many appliance parts shops will carry the part. Do a search for appliance parts in your area and see if they carry that part on line, or you can call them tomorrow. I imagine a pair of strong hands would help as you seperate the outer groove that goes into the drum lip, then replace the spring that holds it in place there.

On this same machine, I need to replace the boot, but I also need to replace a broken baffle. Is this a very difficult task? The old one seems to have been snapped to the tub.

first of all. comming from a Sears Technician.. (don't yell) -- the delivery drivers only know about delivering stuff. they dont know too much,
if the two are the same size they can be stacked.
sometimes have to rig something up
and yes, for that model the top is removed, clips go on the rear and screwed at the front.
in some areas it is sold seperatly as a stacking kit

SOURCE: replace tub seal in top load neptune

I‘ll be watching your progress real close with the Tub Seal replacement. I’m going to run this machine into the ground and I’m sure I will develop a Tub Seal leak down the road. I have nothing to offer other then the mention in the SM on page 49 about making sure “”When installing a new seal, make sure the sleeve from the previous seal has been removed and discarded.””. Did you purchase or borrow this tool to remove the spinner nut Spinner Tool $25, or is there another way to remove the Spinner Nut? Good luck. Rich

see this causes and fix it. God bless you

Try to identify roughly the area the leak is coming from. This will eleminate some of the following

Hose Connections
Check the rubber washers or replace if the hoses are leaking at the water inlet valve.

Door Seal
This is a common place for leaks. Carefully check by partially pulling seal inside out and check for punctures, pens, pencils... Additionaly if the door is not closing properly it may need a door adjustment. This can easily be done by loosening the hinge bolts on the front panel, adjusting and retighten. The seal is also known to get lightly snagged by zippers or rub by heavy items when close are being removed. This tends to cause the seal to get damaged at the six o'clock position. This is sometimes hardly noticeable but if it is leaking from the bottom of the door replace the door seal.

Water Inlet Valve
If the hose connections are good to the water inlet valve check that water is not leaking from the valve itself it is replace the water inlet valve.

Drain Pump
Check the drain pump housing and all hose connections. The drain pump is behind the lower panel, behind the back panel, and sometimes removal of the front panel. Hoses can be tightened. If hoses or pump housing is leaking replace the pump assembly.

Outer Drum
The outer drum is 2 halves bolted together some washers have a seal between others do not. If the washer is leaking between the seems disassembly of the washer will be necessary. The top panel, console, front panel, door seal, struts. Follow the video for the strut replacement and remove the top springs and the inner and outer drum will pull out the front.

yes that has been a issue for all service techs to such as myself and my counter parts have encountered, what i have done is leave inner tub attached to trunion and rotate and lift the tub most of the way with tub attached it adds extra leverage to remove the trunion once most of the way up remove inner tub from trunion and it should come off fairly easy when its most of the way off

Good luck,
Gene

Oh have you remove the two 1/2" hex head botls and tapping plate from side of trunion?
when reistalling there is a notch in transmisson where tapping plate fits into

Remove the 2 screws which hold the lower front washer panel , lift out from the bottom and remove the panel. You can now run the machine and use a flashlight to see where the leak maybe. Usually the top tub seal under the plastic tub cover will leak. The other possibility is the main tub bearing and seal on the main tub where the transmission goes up through tub. Hope this helps.

Two bearings in that model One in tub will be leaking water if bad. One on the lower end of transmission.which is part of the transmission. Whole tub basket unit must be removed from the case to replace either the tub bearing and seal or the transmission.

If this is a front loading machine. The bolts on the drum case have most likely loosened. Remove the rear cover to access the bolts. After tighten the bolts run the machine to make sure this was the problem.

It is most likely the tub seal. Take the two phillips head screws out of the front cover located low on the cover lift forward and remove. Set the machine two low level and fill with water only no soap or clothes when unit starts agitating look at the bottom center of the clothes tub if water is leaking here then you will need to replace the tub seal and tub bearing assembly.
