Question about Lucent Lands Phones
SOURCE: Ethernet adapter jack is broken
There are Ethernet to USB adapter such the products shown here. Alternately, you can use a PCMCIA card with Ethernet such as shown here.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

SOURCE: Using different speakers for TV
If it does not have anything besides optical it will not work unless you have a system capable of optical input (some Logitechs have it, but don't remember which ones, i know that the Z-5500 does certainly have it but that's not too cheap).
Weird that it doesn't have a a headphone jack indeed. But if it doesn't, that optical digital out is the only way to connect it.
