Create a RAID disc with empty USB flash drive instead of a floppy diskette.

Hello when i install windows my sata hard dont detect. my main board is asus k8ux hard is western 1.0tera

You are probably installing windows XP
This requires that you install the textmode sata raid drivers as you install windows

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=K8U-X&p=1&s=20

Download the RAID driver and expand it to a floppy , CD or USB drive that the computer can recognise
(USB is better)

When you install windows, at the prompt for installing other drivers press F6 and let it find the raid drivers, if it finds them, it should then recognize your hard drive and you can install windows XP

Hello,

Here is what you need to do to install XP on your laptop that came with Vista or Win 7.

If your hard drive is SATA (pretty much standard these days) you will need to search the manufacturer's site for a floppy disk SATA driver install package.* You will need a USB floppy drive for installing XP.
* Copy the SATA drivers (should be denoted as "F6 drivers" or similar) to a blank disk.
* Have the USB drive connected. It should automatically map as A:\.
* Go into BIOS and find a setting for ACPI Compatible and set on.
* Now install XP normally from the CDROM, and when it says "press F6 to install third-party drivers", press F6 and follow the options to get the SATA drivers from the disk.
* Complete setup as normal.

You can check the following link for more detailed info.

Thanks !!

I can not install windows XP on Toshiba Satellite U300, windows

You must have latest Windows Xp CD .
Latest Motherboard chipset does not recognise hard disk without proper sata raid or sata driver. So you can install sata driver if u have USB floppy drive by downloading latest Sata raid to floppy. At the time of installation you will see a message press f6 to if u need to install raid driver.then press f6 asking for floppy drive and floppy insert press enter to continue.

Windows xp setup does not detect hard drive

You need to use the RAID/ATA floppy disk that was provided with your motherboard. It was supplied either on the cd or on seperate floppies.
When you have the disk in the floppy drive you press F6 when it asks at the very beginning of loading files in the windows setup.
When the setup asks load the RAID/ATA drivers and when you go to install your hard disk will be detected. You will have to get a floppy drive and plug it up if you don't already have one. There is a way to build a windows setup cd which includes the ata/raid drivers but it's often easier to just get a floppy drive.

NO INTTALEDWIN XP IN SATA HDD

you need your windows xp disc preferably slip streamed with SP 2 or SP 3 and then you should be able to install it onto your sata hard drive.

If you are having issues then you may need to extract the sata drivers onto a memory stick or floppy disk and press F6 before windows xp loads and specify to use the sata drivers which you can download from the motherboards manufacturers website generally as a zip file which you will first need to extract into a folder.

If that does not work using the memory stick you can use nlite to slipstream the drivers with your windows xp disc :

Nlite download

Changing the drive letter

If im not mistaken, you need a RAID driver for this model. I don't recall, but does this thing have a floppy drive built in? Or do you happen to have an external? You might be able to use the cdrom to complete this, never tried this way, in the event you dont have a floppy drive.

Download the RAID driver relevant to the OS your going to install. Let's say for XP. After downloading, extract the files in the archive. You will find a folder named Drivers. The files in that folder, need to go on a floppy disk. If you dont have a floppy disk, you may need to make a trip to your local computer store and pick up a USB Floppy drive.
Insert the XP install cd. When the screen turns blue you'll see an instruction to load a third party driver at the bottom of the screen. It says to hit F6. So once the screen turns blue, tap the F6 a few times.... XP will eventually ask you for a driver disk, at this point, you insert the floppy disk into the floppy drive. And hit S in order to specify additional devices.
The rest is pretty easy from there. You should be able to continue on and install windows.
The reason it doesn't see the drive, is because Windows does not recognize the Raid controller that the drive is connected too. Thus, you need to load the driver for it from the F6 funtion during the OS setup. Have questions, let me know.

install raid drivers only if you are certain that you are on RAID and even before you install raid drivers make sure the RAID controller is set to on in BIOS. if you dont have RAID setup then please dont install the RAID drivers. the only reason i think you are computer is not going past the windows xp logo is you might have floppy drive in the boot sequence(in the BIOS screen) set to on or you must be having a USB device connected to the computer. set it to "no boot" and things should be fine.
