I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WD640P and am finding it wont turn on and if it does it wont start or wont always let you select water temp or drying times and these two buttons keep getting stuck in, Im guessing the electrics behind the all buttons is shot and needs replacing, can anyone tell me what they are called? (the circuitry behind the buttons panel I mean) or if Im getting it wrong and it could be something else causing the problems

turn the machine on while preesing the on and start buttons together until dOFF appears.

First of all try cleaning the filter inside the back as described by others if this does not work there is a filter in the top. how you clean this is quite easy. all you do is remove the top of the machine by undoing the 2 screws at the back then pull top top backwards when you have removed the top you well see a large metal casing on the left if you are looking from the the back of the machine the filter is in there to remove the casing you pull the small pipe off then undo 5 star headed screws then gently pull the casing off noteing that there is a large pipe at the front when you have remover the casing you will see the filter (the small pipe you removed at the start fits on this filter) clean the filter then put it all back together.

it sounds like you have a direct short in the wiring some where on your machine.the only other option is the main control board needs to be replaced
