I think the problem is on your operation system, the wrong application or bad application cause it happens, to fix your problem you need to do reset to factory setting. To do a reset to factory setting you must save all your data which located in your phone memory because this way will erase all information on your phone memory then turn off your phone. After you turn off your phone press a volume down key and press and release a power button, then your screen will displayed some options such as: Fast Boot, Recovery, Clear storage and Sim Lock. Select clear storage option by using the volume up/down button to scroll to the option then click and release the power button again, then confirming your selection by press volume up for yes and volume down for no.

this sounds like you may have a short from the battery to the board.
check the contacts on the phone at the battery to make sure they are not clogged or have any mark that may be causing them to not get a good contact from the battery.

Why cant i open settings on my samsung galaxy s3

There are three ways to get to your settings.
1. Press the menu key. Select settings.
2. Swipe down from the top and press the gear icon in the top right.
3. Go to your apps and look towards the beginning .You will see a settings icon there.

If none of these allow you to access it then do a soft reset.
1. Shut down your phone.
2. Remove the battery for 10 seconds.
3. Replace the battery and turn on.

If after that you don't get any satisfaction you may have to do a factory reset. Keep in mind that you will lose everything on your phone so you should take steps to back up what you can before attempting it.

To do a factory reset I believe you turn the phone off then press the power button and the volume up buttons simultaneously to turn it back on. You be brought to a menu where you can choose an option to reset. Sorry if the key combination is wrong. I'm working from second hand memory. :p

Does the samsung galaxy S3 battery life run out after a couple of years?

All rechargeable batteries lose efficiency as they are charged and discharged over the course of their use. Depending on how much you use your device and how often you charge will ultimately determine how long your battery lasts. Current technology(lithium ion) has come a long way since it was first put on the market but it still has its limitations. Word of advice; Keep you eyes open for deals on replacement batteries and get you a spare.
