At first it just would freeze after I put my music on it. Now it says Keys locked and won't turn off. This is after I tried to download the new firmware to mp3 player.

You probobly have too many files on it? it takes FOREVER to load if you have a bunch on try to keep it under 75% full, or yes it will take a long time! even at 75 it would... but this seems to happen rare and randomly at most..

hope this works for you,

Rca pearl th1702-a freezes at pearl logo i cant seem to turn it off unless i take off the battery.and it will just stay at pearl when i turn it on.

Hello,

When resetting of the TH1702 doesn't help, a firmware reinstallation may be required.
Before performing the firmware update make a backup of the player's content to your computer, to have it preserved.

All support for the TH1702 is on next site:
http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/product.aspx?product=419
Continue with Select Software Updates.
Click the bar TH1702 Downloads and select Download Here to enter the download page of Audiovox, Customer Support.

Frozen

Please try to reset the player and see whether it helps.
This could be done by inserting a paper clip into the reset hole and press and hold for about 20 seconds. This should unfreeze the player.

All the best!

My RCA TH1611 mp3 player freezes upon booting.

Sometimes the firmware or player files are garbaged and the player looks like it starts halfway then freezes. If this is your problem and you're sure the battery's fine (and in the right way) then you can try to reload the flash on the player and as a last resort reformat the file area as well.

Go the RCA support website and download the latest flash for the th1611 and run the program. You may be lucky off the bat, but if the first attempt fails review the troubleshooting procedures that will tell you to hold the play button while plugging the device into the usb port. If, after the program flash, the device still fails to start, you'll have to erase the file area to un freeze the device.

I had a weak battery that that I pulled out while the device was starting and it seemed to corrupt the player. Thisprocedure worked for me.

FYI, the flash program works on XP 32bit, but I don't know if it will work with Vista

Wont load past the "please wait" screen

Check to see if the player needs a firmware update or if there is a reset on it. Also try different USB ports on your PC to see if when you plug it in it recognizes the player and maybe needs firmware. If you have more trouble try the RCA website or call customer service. Good luck.
