Make sure the setting is right on the bottom of the turntable. If you have your turntable plugged into a phono jack on the receiver the setting on the bottom of the turntable needs to be for phono. If plugged into another jack (e.g., CD) then use the other setting (RCA I think???).

Crosely won't play usb

If it's a turntable with a usb connector, those connections are usually outputs only. USB on a turntable is used to output the audio to a computer to rip albums to digital audio.

DP29F turntable has static

either you haven't earthed the deck to the amp, on the proper ground screw, or your head shell wires are touching.
if the cartage(the thing the needle slots into) unscrews from the tone-arm, try unscrewing it,then putting back on, nice & tight....
if it still does it then it's your RCA leads that go from the deck to the amp(phono cables).
normally you would wire a deck/decks to a mixer first, then from the master out on the mixer to the AUX IN on the amp.

The arm with the needle slides across the LP record - doesn't pick up sound

This is often a problem when you are using a 78 needle on a 45 or 33 record. Some needles can be flipped, so check to see if yours is able to flip between the 78 and 33 setting. If not, you may simply need a new one.

I've just bought a used Ion Audio TTUSB05 turnatable, I ve plugged it into my amp and it sounds terrible. There is a lot of noise before the needle hits the vinyl, presumably it needs earthing, when...

It will need earthing if you are getting hum. As it is used I would replace the entire cartridge and stylus with the best you can afford. Make certain you wire it up right. A good test is with the cartridge removed and your amp on, is to touch each wire (one at a time) with your finger. You should hear a buzz on two wires (one left one right) and nothing on the other two wires (earths). This will help you get the new one connected right.

Sound quality is terrible on my Crosley CR79 turntable. Sounds very tinny and terrible. Got a new needle and the problem still exists.

This could be an earth lead to the cartridge problem, or the cartridge itself. Check the connections.

Did you make the audio changes in the Windows Control panel documented in the Ez Vinyl 4.1 Setup Instructions? You must set audio format and levels to specified levels for Windows 7.

WHEN I PLAY A 331/2 RPM LP IT SOUNDS A LITTLE

The needle itself will not induce drag on the record. Even worn needles play no role in the problem you describe. The belt, provided it has suffcient tension to turn the platter, is doing it's job. The most likely source of malfunction is the motor itself. Try sliding the speed switch back and forth while the turntable is turning. If you see no difference in the speed between the 33 1/3 rpm setting and the 45 rpm setting, you have most likely eliminated all sources of the malfunction other than the motor. They are very prone to failure. If a replacement can be found, the job of installing it is not particularly difficult but indeed should be left to someone skilled at soldering electronic parts.

One channel vocals drop out

yes, it is very likely the stylus. the stock needle is conical shaped like a ball point pen. You might have a tonearm that is out of alignment but usually it's the needle. It is possible it is just dust on the tip but if it occurrs in consistent areas of the record, then it is likely that the music is just too demanding for the LP2D you will either have to use your old technics which is likely better quality or you could try upgrading the stylus on your LP2D.
If you do a yahoo search for "4-211-DE-GUARD" with the quotes, the 1st result will take you to an elliptical upgrade over the stock needle. The elliptical tip will pull more info out of the grooves and into your computer for further processing.

Needle drag

Hi, i know this sounds stupid but have u tried using a different record as the record your using may have a defect which wont allow it to play any further. I would also make sure that you weight the tonearm as much as possible but not to much that you wear ur needles out. Let me know how you get on. Gud luck!
