NO CARTRIDGE message when new cartridge installed

Make sure there is ink in all cartridges and unplug the machine. Plug it back in while you hold the stop key and it should clear the error.

Brother mfc240c will not print

Are they genuine Brother ink cartridges? Some Brother models won't accept generic or non-OEM ink. Try replacing them with genuine Brother cartridges.

Mfc-240c reading offline and empty black

Regarding your problem: If one of the color ink cartidges is out of ink, the MFC 240C printer will not operate when you only install a black ink cartidge. It requires that all four catridges have ink available in them for it to function. When you examine a cartridge it may appear that it has a little ink in it when you get message that the cartridges needs to be replaced because a little ink remains to prevent the print head from drying out. Replacing the cart holder on a Brother MFC 240C

Somethings that have worked for some Brother owners to get cartridges recognised.

1. With your MFC powered up, open it up and remove the cartridge you are having a problem with, then close the MFC, leaving it powered up. It should report that there is no cartridge in the machine.

Still with the MFC powered up, open it up and reinsert the ink cartridge, then close the MFC. It should either ask if you have replaced a cartridge or go into its cleaning mode.

Answer "yes" to "have you replaced cartridge?" and it should either "print" or "clean" and then "print".

2. The cartridge holder in the printer has an "electronic eye" (light sensor) of some type for each cartridge.
Some users have found that putting either permanent marker/sharpie/black PVC tape either on the area of the ink cartridge that goes near the sensor or alternatively putting tape over the sensor itself allows printing to occur.
The problem with this method is that the printer will no longer recognise near-empty cartridges and so will not warn you to replace them and so the print head may be damaged. This is said to work on LC57 icartridges used with the following models: DCP-330C, DCP-350C, DCP-540CN, DCP-560CN, FAX-2480C, MFC-240C, MFC-440CN, MFC-465CN, MFC-665CW, MFC-685CW, MFC-885CW, MFC-3360C, MFC-5460CN, MFC-5860CN.

did you replace with brother carts, are you sure machine is refering to mag and yellew being mt, not the other ones, power off, remove all carts, power on , reinsert carts one at a time answer machine when prompted. these cartridges are deemed empty even when they look like they have a little ink left. Try putting in 4 new brother inks
