The Closed Caption appeared on my television. I cannot remove it with "Set Closed Caption" function in the "Setup."

We have a Hitachi television and cable (Charter) - don't know if that makes a difference in your answer. When I use the "Menu" button, go to "Closed Caption," go to the "Setup" screen, it will let me navigate through that screen, but it won't let me "Select" - it just changes to "Return" and starts over with "Setup."

Originally, the "Closed Caption" feature appeared while we were watching television - I may have accidently touched a button on my remote, but I never tried to use the "Closed Caption" function with the Hitachi remote. Help!

Hello sta..... you will need your remote control. Then:

1. Press the "Menu" button on your remote.

2. Navigate through the menus to find the closed caption feature. Different TV's require you to use different buttons to navigate through the menu. Try pressing "Menu" again to get to different menus. If that does not work, try using the arrow keys.

3. Highlight the closed caption feature and turn it "Off." This might be done with the arrow keys or the "Enter" key on your remote.

Hello
Closed Caption function is set to On in your JVC. look if there any button marked as "CC" on its remote control. If it is there, hit it till the closed caption function go off from your tv screen. If there is no such button found, get into its menu option, surf through, and get in to the closed caption option, set the close caption function OFF in that window. OK.

I haven't been able to put closed captioning on tv. I don't understand how and what code to use to get the closed captioning to work.

Enable Caption Using the Original Remote
  1. Press the [CCD] button to change the CCD mode.
  2. Using this button will set the Closed Caption mode when viewing a DTV or TV channel.
Enable Caption Using the TV Menu
  1. Open the Menu screen, select the third icon, in the middle, this is the Setup Menu.
  2. In the Setup Menu, choose the Caption option.
  3. Caption: There are three items in it - Analog Closed Caption, Digital Closed Caption and Digital Caption Style
  • Analog Closed Caption: CC1, CC2, CC3, CC4, TEXT1,TEXT2, TEXT3, TEXT4.
  • Digital Closed Caption: Service1, Service2, Service3, Service4, Service5, Service6.
  • Digital Caption Style: There are two Caption Styles. One is the automatic function set as the broadcaster, while the other is the custom style where you can adjust the font size, color, opacity, background color etc., accordingly.

This is most commonly caused by the use of a Closed Caption text box. This type of Closed Caption is not always supported by the broadcaster, and results in the appearance of a black rectangle with scrambled or no text.

This can be quickly resolved by adjusting the Closed Caption type to "CC1" or by disabling the Closed Caption feature on your television.

get in the menu and change the close caption with the Olevia remote control

This should fix you right up

Above pretty much says it. The "Caption" function under "Option" is greyed out. Can someone tell me how to "ungrey/activate the closed caption option?

If the closed caption is shaded out in the menu, this usually means closed caption is not an option. Closed caption can not be turned on if the TV is on component, RGB, DVI, Or HDMI inputs. The closed caption will need to be turned on by using the set-top box or other device that is connected to TV inputs. or if the tv is connected directly to the cable line or anteanna

A black box sometimes appears on my tv screen. can you tell me if this is from having the closed caption butten on and why it happens?

Yes, if the closed caption mode is turned on in 'text mode' the set will display a black box even when no closed caption text is available. the normal closed caption mode is cc1. try turning closed caption to cc1 or off. tech7
