Question about Husqvarna 23 Hp 48" Deck Yard Tractor

1 Answer

I continue to have a problem with the Husqvarna YTH2242 and the Vortex baffle. After hitting any high spots the baffle bends and the blade hits it. How necessary is this piece ? Seems like a solution would be to remove it.It was bent up and useless I think for years. I had a handyman come and repair the mower. He pounded it back and put it in place again. After 1 hour cutting it was bent again and the blade hits it. Does the blade ride above the baffle or under it.Should I remove this piece?

I think that you are on the right track....the purpose of the baffle is to help create a suction that helps to pull the grass upward... in reality it does nothing that you can ever notice...

I would remove it and be done with it...

Sounds like pebbles under cutting deck when blade engaged

jack up the mower and see if you can turn the blades by hand. sounds like the deck may be bend and the blade is hitting the edge. you may also see a shinny spot on the deck where it is hitting.

YTH2242 goes dead when i try to go frward, backwards or engage the blades

Make your Operator seat switch is connected securely. If it is loose or disconnected it will kill the engine if release the clutch/brake or try to engage the pto. The connector contains a shorting strip that shorts the wiring hasness when it is disconnected.

What do you mean "bottom blade"? Do you mean the lower wash arm? There is no "adjustment" built into the dishwasher, but if it's hitting the heater element (or its supports), you might be able to bend it slightly. If it's hitting the lower rack, make sure your rack has all of its wheels attached, and that it's not bend down.

Sounds like the large nut on top of the spindle may have loosened up or the splines on the pulley are chewed up. Turn the blade and try to hold the pulley on top. If the blade turns and the pulley doesnt, its one of the two things I just described.

Husqvarna YTH2242 lawn tractor loss of drive.

You can check the belt tention, between the deck and the chassis just to see if it is loose, it would reqire removing the deck to replace the belt.

I had hit a somewhat hidden stump on the lawn..bending the blade. Took the deck off and replaced the bent blade. Put the deck back on and now the cut seems uneven. It appears that the deck is now...

I've only had luck removeing the deck, turn it upside down. Measure blade, mark, remove blade, insert large pipe over spindle, bend in direction. Re-install blade, and do it all over and over till straight. Measure in several locations.

When I start the motor it runs on high idle and the blade starts to spin without hitting the trigger... When I hit the trigger it sputters and turns off...

I don't know if your saw has adjustable needles on the carb, but if it does, the "low" side needle needs to be turned counterclockwise about 1/8 to 1/4 turn. THis will richen up the idle mixture which will take care of the sputtering, and should also bring down the idle speed.

Fan above drive belt pulley is hitting metal brace

If the fan blades aren't torn, you could try bending them back in place. I have had sucess doing that before. The plastic naturally wants to go back to where it was, with a little help. If that doesn't work, you can replace the fan, or have it replaced.
