Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

Toshiba Laptop. Windows XP Home. Machine hybernated while burning CD, switched machine back on and it appeared to continue to burn CD then blue screen error/warning message came up with an error in what appeared to be a CD burning file which could of damaged Windows. Machine frozen from that point. I switched it off, then on again and ever since we have small pixels on screen which look like snow after start up and use for a few minutes. Desktop image has smudge/snow at top of screen after use which gradually gets worse. Performance of machine is not hampered. Do we need to be concerned? Is there a simple solution for repair? Many thanks

Thanks for the advice, but there are no Video drivers for my model (Satellite M40X) on the Toshiba website under downloads. But there is a display driver, is that what you meant?

    Guru,

Sorry but your advice has not worked. I've downloaded the ATI Display driver and I've had the blue screen error message twice since, indicating that a device driver is in an infinite loop (ati2dvag file).

Any further suggestions you can offer?

You need to take out the CD, The computer is trying to read the half burned CD.
Do the following:
Keep pressing the CD eject button whilst computer is starting up until the CD tray opens.

Try to restart the computer then press F5 or F2 so you can access the Boot menu then after that press F8 so you can access the advance menu, then select the Last known good configuration so we can check if this is only a system problem or a screen problem, because if that fix this issue that;s good because its not a problem with your monitor...

Hope that helps.........

I have a toshiba tecra m3.i tried to install windows xp media center edition????with no joy! it keeps saying install disk 2 when i install disk 2 nothing happens , i have windows on the laptop but nothing...

First you have to know if that Windows XP Media Center is compatible with your laptop, it should be properly installed to avoid errors.

Second if you don't have drivers, you have to access the internet so you don't have any choice but to use another computer to download all the drivers for your laptop

Here's the site for your tecra laptop

Please help me to remove bios password on a laptop toshiba satellite A215-SP5811. my e-mail is asalazar@ssaver.gob.mx

There are a lot of Windows password revealers and crackers available, but I’ve found that Windows Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
it not only supports XP, 2000, and NT, I have personally tested it with Vista Home Premium and Ultimate. It works perfectly to reset any local user account to a blank password
You can use the ISO to burn a boot CD. Follow these instructions:
1. Download ISO file from http://www.windowspasswordsrecovery.com Windows Password Recovery Tool
2. Burn to a CD using a CD burning tool such as Nero or Roxio or MagicISO
3. Insert CD into drive and reboot.
4. You may have to select an option in the BIOS to get the computer to boot from the CD.
Booting up and clearing a password takes a minute or two works like a charm.

Hi. I have a toshiba equium l20-198 laptop dvd burning problems

there could be 4 things that's wrong that I can think of.

1. try this first, go and force xp to take your updated drivers by telling it to install from a specific location->don't search. I will choose the driver to install->have disk->have disk->point it to the driver's location-> continue and it should install that specific driver.
2. the software you're using to burn with isn't playing nicely with your drive. try using cdburnerxp which is a free burning software and test the results of those burns.
3. the firmware on your drive is corrupted(happens from time to time). try installing a new firmware from matshita's website. remember, firmware is different from drivers.
4. the dvd drive itself is busted. try using an external drive to burn a dvd(if you have one available) or switch the drive out and see if that fixes things.

after looking at some forums, seems like this drive is ripe with issues but hopefully it's not a hardware issue in your case.

hope that helps.

Why Won't My Toshiba Satellite Laptop (A200 -AH3) Not Burn Discs?

Look for any software on the machine that uses the the burner. Start by updating it (many of these programs use what are called burning engines to process the request to write to a cd, and if theyre damaged, then the writing process will appear to occur, but wont do anything). If you use programs that download and manage music (such as Limewire, Bearshare, or Napster), uninstall them.
As a last ditch effort, you can try the istructions in this Microsoft article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
Be warned, you will have to reinstall the software needed to burn your CDs if you do this. It has fixed 99% of CD burning issues out there. Good luck

I cannot even log into my laptop it seems to be locked

Keep your finger on the powerbutton for at least 10 seconds that should shut it off.

If that doesn't do it remove the battery from the bottom.

Now try restarting it and see what happens.

How to record from a website to cd on laptop

To burn cd/dvd you have to check :

1. Your laptop cd/dvd drive have what capability:
- cd writer = only burn cd
- cd writer/dvd reader(combo) = still only burn cd
- dvd writer = can burn cd, dvd single layer(4GB)
- dvd DL writer = can burn cd and dvd single 4GB and dual layer 8GB.
Other than those, is not possible.

2. Must have burn apps named:
- Nero
- Alcohol 120%
- other. search internet.

If you have them then using the apps to burn, just read the manual.

Koam114 is in Korean. I don't understand :)
But If you want songs from website, you should download it first.
Unless the site is giving you a step by step how to burn songs directly to your cd/dvd.
Once downloaded, would be easier to burn to cd/dvd.

Blue Screen

OK, so I took out the added RAM, changed the internal RAM to a new 1GB stick. The machine booted, windows started, I logged on, then blue screen. I put the old internal RAM back in, changed the hard drive, same result. This test suggests that the RAM is fine as is the hard drive as the blue screen appeared with different hardware. My next step is to replace the motherboard as the appears to be the issue. I'll let you know how I get on.

You're creating Disk images on your Hard Disc Drive.

See where your CD Burning Software stores the images of the Disk and use the appropriate option to burn them onto a blank CD.
