Question about Televison & Video

My child pressed buttons on the OMNI tv remote control and now the tv is locked on a blue screen with a red LOCK icon. The only function which seems to work is the on/off button & I've tried turning tv off at wall powerpoint also. Can't watch anything (including dvd's) except a blue screen. Can anyone help please?

    Thank you for your clear and prompt response.

    It hasn't fixed it unfortunately. Don't have a 'function' button on the remote (but tried everything else). Still showing a blank blue screen with a red padlock icon. in top left corner.

    I'll give Omni a call on the number you provided and hope for the best.

    That phone number seems incorrect... it's for a tv station in Canada.

    It worked!! The square button with + sign. I had tried it before but probably didn't press it long enough the first time.

These instructions should get your set unlocked, if not there is a number to contact omni for technical support, some times these locks may be a software issue.

  • Use the original Omni remote control to turn on the TV. You need the original remote to bypass the child lock. A universal remote won't work.

  • 2

    Check the screen. If you see a blank screen with a red key on it, press the "Function" and "Mute" buttons at the same time. This unlocks only the channel that is on the TV. All the other channels will remain locked and the TV will lock again when it is turned off.

  • 3

    Unlock all of the channels on the TV by entering "6688," which is the factory reset code. This code resets the TV to original factory settings. Once this is done, you will have to go through the initial setup.

  • 4

    Call Omni technical support at (416) 260-0047. A technician can help you troubleshoot the television as the problem may not be the child lock. You'll need to know the model number and serial number of the TV.

      Try this while I am looking, so far I haven's found their support yet.
      on the omni tv remote...press the button with a square and a + sign for a couple of seconds, then if no luck try
      Press the "music" button for a few seconds
      still no luck then hold the top left button and hit the mute button
      I found these tips from other user that have had this issue before.

      I am so glad that worked for you. I was having a bit of trouble finding anything on the set. I did find the service manual but not a user manual. If you have a way to contact the manufacture you might want to order a new manual in case something like this happens again, and that will save you some money and worries.     Omni TVs have a child lock that allows parents to prevent children from watching specific channels or television shows with certain ratings. To activate or deactivate the controls, you need the four digit pass code. If you forget the pass code or if the lock gets set accidentally, you can still unlock the TV.

    I have a red key on bottom left side of screen. Have volume but no picture. None of the controls work on tv or remote.

    Your TV is locked.

    The Child Lock feature prevents unauthorized viewing of the

    television. To activate, press and hold the Function key, and then

    press MUTE. you should see a key symbol appear on the screen.

    This will lock out all remote functions (except for Standby). To unlock

    the TV, press and hold the Function key and press MUTE. This will

    unlock the TV. Please note that the only way to activate or deactivate

    the Child lock feature is via remote control - please insure that it is
    stored securely.

    My tv logik lk 74n has locked. please help me procedures of removing the padlock symbol.


    The Red Lock indicates that it has been Child Locked, this could be done by accidently pressing child lock. On your remote control there is a MUSIC button, to turn off the red child lock PUSH & HOLD the button. The red lock does not go off with a qucik push. You need to Push & Hold The music button for about 10 secounds.

    Turn off child lock


    To unlock the Panel Lock, Parent Lock, or Child Lock, follow these steps:
    1. Turn on your TV.
    2. On the remote, press the Menu button. The Set-Up Menu appears.
    3. Scroll to the Key Lock function and set function to Off.
    4. Press the Exit button to exit.
    Note: If you don't have a remote, you may be able to do the same thing by pressing the Menu button on the front or side panel of your TV and using the volume or channel up and down buttons on the TV to scroll to the Key Lock function and set it to Off.

    Blue screen and red padlock


    It sounds to me like a child lock function, which is usually what the screen + padlock is on TVs. Usually your original remote would have a button / sequence to unlock the mode. If you still have your original remote, look for a child lock button or refer to your remote manual (and/or TV manual for the child lock feature) to unlock the mode.
