Installed subs and aftermarket stereo in 03 monte carlo. Turned it on and no sound from inside the car. Only sound from subs. Any idea?

depending on it you got a wire harness or hardwired it, you may have crossed wires or have some grounded out, otherwise the stock stereo may have an anti theft on it causing the new one not to work, there should be a diagram for the wires if you hardwired it on the top of your head unit on the metal, otherwise if you purchased it new it may be defective, or if you bought it from somebody there is always the possibility of "it worked fine when I took it out", hope this helped

I have an Whistler XTR radar detector, I cannot get power to the unit from the power outlet on a BMW 528 I just bought, the unit worked on my Lexus. Do I need a special cord?

No special cord is required. Does the lighter socket in the BMW power other 12 volt devices? If so, then check the fuse in the radar detectors power cord plug. If not, then check the BMW's lighter socket fuse to make sure that is working properly.

Laser goes off when i am driving in area were there is no buildings or police cars also goes to k ban what is this problem

A lot of the time this is caused by a somewhat flaky power connection to the radar detector, or may be caused by excessive electrical system noise created by your car's alternator. The cigarette lighter socket itself my be the problem due to oxidation within the socket. Do you get false laser alerts when you rev your car's engine to certain RPM's? Do you get either laser or radar falses if you jiggle the radar detector's power cord or slightly move it plug in the cigarette lighter socket? If yes, to either, then installing a hardwire power kit may solve the problem. Jump over to radardetector.net and describe the problems you are having with your radar detector. Most likely they will help you to track down the source of the problem.

What wire do I choose

Your 8500 X50 draws less than 1 Amp of power. The best solution for hardwiring your radar detector is to purchase one of Escort's direct wire kits and then use an Add-A-Circuit (available at almost any auto parts store) to tap the direct wire kit's power into one of the vehicle fuse box's switched power fuses. I recommend tapping into a fuse which is rated for 10A or higher since the higher amperage fuse terminals have thicker wires running back to the car battery, and this generally provides cleaner power for the radar detector.

Roaster OVen Cords

The new roaster ovens have a cord that is hardwired into the base. This became necessary for safety reasons. However, if you are lucky enough to have a very old one, cords that fit can be purchased at local hardware stores. They are larger than coffee pot cords but are very similar in design. Those plug in to a receptacle recessed in the base. If the cord is hardwired into the base, you will need to provide the expert that helped you with the information he requested. Thanks again for using FixYa.com
