Question about Kenmore 62802 Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Hello, I have a kenmore electric dryer model 11063932101 that was having difficulties heating while drying and it took a long time to dry the clothes. After a few weeks of this it began to have a burnt smell and the heat would be there sometimes other times not. Now, it began to dry for a while and shut off then come back on after 10-15 minutes run for a bit then shut off again repeating the process over and over. After doing a little reading on similiar issues I went on line to sears parts and discovered several parts that may have been related to my problem. I found that it has a high-limit thermostat, a thermal cut-off fuse, a non-resettable thermal fuse and a thermistor that I suspected maybe the problem. I replaced the high-limit thermostat and thermal cut-off fuse and now I have plenty of heat, but it still shuts off and on. Interestingly, after putting the parts in I turned it on and let it run for a few minutes then opened the door to check and to see if it was getting hotter than before, which as I mentioned it was providing plenty of heat, but after closing the door and pushing the start button it made a brief humming noise and failed to start... What should I do next...any ideas?

The cutting off is a restricted vent, you will need to disconnect the vent and run a load of clothes, then clear the vent of the restriction. the humming is the motor, either the belt is off/broken or the motor is stuck, you will need to take it apart and see what the problem is, I am not sure if the Kenmore has a belt brake trip on the motor or not, if it does it will have to little buttons where it plugs into the motor one button trips it the other resets it. Hope this helps Tim

Kenmore 110.66902690 electric dryer does not dry completely

Dear Barry,
Try 2 things.
One, be certain the clothes are very dry coming out of the washing machine.
If the washer leaves the clothes wet ( like the belt might be slipping), it can take the dryer forever to finish drying the clothes.
You can tell by hand-wringing them.
You should not be able to get any water out of them by hand-wringing after they have spun dry in the washer.
Two, try running a load with the vent hose unhooked off the back of the dryer.
If this fixes the problem, you are having a "clogged vent" issue somehow.
Be blessed.

My Kenmore 6.7 cu ft he2 Super capacity electric dryer is taking twice as long to dry. no error codes

It sounds like a connection problem with one of the heating elements, or perhaps only a clogged input or output hose from the dryer. Either of these could cause the problem...also, a burned out electric element.

My Kenmore dryer does not get hot enough to dry a load

If your dryer IS still heating, but your clothes still won't dry, you may want to check the dryer interior cabinet and/or the entire exhaust duct run to ensure you have no kinks or clogs anywhere. The following link explains many of the problems that can cause poor drying efficiency and longer dry times:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3578821-dryer_takes_too_long_to_dry

Before assuming you have a problem with the appliance, check your installation to ensure you are providing the dryer with proper exhaust and air flow. A dryer in a clogged state or having improper air flow will not dry efficiently and will cause the heating circuits to actually overheat. Eventually, this can lead to component failures and is the source of fire hazards.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER (located on a nameplate along the door opening) and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Kenmore dryer takes to long to dry

You may have to get inside the exhaust assembly ...somtimes there are lint buildups that occur and cause long drying times. Also make sure you don't have a DUAL heating element model. I had one and only one of the elements worked when I repaired the second one it worked great. Most likely is the exhaust block however. Hope this helps.
