Why doesn't it spin or drain?

My guess is the belt probably broke or slipped off. There's often a belt that attaches the motor to the drum. If it's humming, then the motor is probably turning, but the belt isn't turning the drum (the drum is the thing your clothes go in).

Google the model number of your washing machine and try to find the owners manual. It may have directions for how to check/change the belt. Alternatively, you can just search for your model number and "belt change" and you should find something.

Or, you know, call someone to fix it...

Drum belt snapped

unsure of your model here, but generally a drum belt change will require loosening the motor supports, putting the new belt on, then tightening the motor to correct belt tension.

Changing a dryer belt on a Maytag DE410

in some models you do it from the front the drum sits on 2 bogie wheels and the belt sits behind ,lift drum off bogie wheels and thread belt around pulley it should be on a spring tensioner and it allows you to swing pulley up or down try to thread belt around drum and replace drum back on bogie wheels.... in some dryers you may need to thread belt on drum and then onto pulley good luck

Getting a message saying change belt unit...what's that? is it easy to change? Replaced Drum Unit 6 months ago and I still get message Drum Unit end soon.

The instructions to reset the drum after changing are packed with the new drum, and the belt unit is the transfer belt that also wears out and needs changing periodically. The instructions are packed with that also and not hard to change.

How do you change the drum belt

remove the top (generally spring clips), remove the front (spring clips and/or screws) the drum will fall out.

Check the small tensioner on the bottom of the machine. There are two slots for the tensioner to sit in. make sure it is in the slots.

Put the new belt around the drum, get on the floor, pull a loop of the belt through the tensioner and place it around the motor pulley.

Get up ... get help, put the drum in place, replace the front panel, drop the top down, give it a try. If it works, pop the top down and bingo - you are done

Amana dryer, sqeaks, very loud, makes alot of noise. Someone said it needs a belt. How do you change the belt. We lifted the top and the drum is loose.

Try leveling the dryer The outside cab is the bearing for the drum a little twist and adjusting can fix it. You can also try some belt dressing

Need to change the belt, I gotta get the shell off but it's hard

First and most important, REMOVE POWER! Then remove the two hex screws below the bottom front panel. Then remove the two screws below the bottom of the upper front panel. Then remove the four screws that hold the panel the front of the drum rides in. Under the drum you will find an idler arm and pully by the motor, push up on the am and remove the belt. Next take the belt from the motor pully, after this you can slide the belt from the drum. I doubt if it is the belt. Look on the front panel that had the four screws. It has two rub strips that the drum rides on and a felt ring. I suspect that these are the problem.

Asko T700 loose belt, access from front?

I think you must replace the belt and the tensionarm. It MUST be done from the backside of the machine... Remove the backpanel, and the drum, change the tensionarm, and put the drum into the machine again. Put on the new belt, and mount it together again. Be careful for sharp edges! Hope this helps :-)
