Question about Washing Machines
You can unplug the washer, remove the bottom panel and check the shocks to see if they are damaged but most of the time when this noise happens it's usually the spider gear and the part is around 250 to 300.you have to split the tubs and install a new basket that sits in between the inner and outer tubs,it would be cheaper in the long run to replace the washer instead of repairing it but that's up to you to decide.most of the time this happens from using to much detergent, the extra detergent eats at the metal that the gear is made of and it just falls apart, any front load washer you get you should be using 1/4 cup of H.E. detergent.good luck and i hope my opinion helps you out.
