I bought fallout 3 and went to play it and it says must be inserted into an xbox console.. well obviously it is inserted into my 360 but still says this same message

Make sure the disk in clean and void of sratches if it has a ring take it to a referbisher

This, of course, is total opinion, but why would you want to play Fallout with a controller when it is so much better with a mouse and keyboard.

Definitely get the PC version.

turns out after a bit of fiddling around that there is a switch on the 360 elite's VGA cable that you can switch on and off, i never knew they had these switches because it is my first tme with an elite, machine works fine though so far no freezes or glitches and im playing fallout 3. anyway for allthose that cant get video because of the cord or something make sure you check your VGA TV/HDTV switch, as i missed it too.

You have the level cap all the way up.  Buy a new DLC Pack so the population cap goes up more...to 30.

Fallout 3 freezing is an unfortunately common problem. A lot of people have reported that clearing the game cache on your 360 will fix it, so that's what I would suggest you try first.

To do this:

1. start up your 360, then take out the Fallout 3 game disc.
2. Hold down the A button on the Player 1 controller
3. Put Fallout 3 in your 360, then load the game

If this doesn't fix it, the next thing you could try is to clear the system cache. This will clear the entire cache for your 360, including the automatic updates (though downloaded content, save files, and user dats will be untouched).

To do this:

1. Navigate to System > Memory
2. Highlight the hard disk in the list and press Y
3. Press X, X, LB, RB, X, X

If done right, you should see a message asking, "perform system maintenance?" Proceed with this, and it will clear all the cache data out and revert Fallout 3 back to version 1.0 (it should ask you to update once you load the game)

Hope this helps - I've had my share of frustration with Fallout 3 glitches.

when the game fallout 3 has even the tinyest scratch in the right place some parts of the map freeze because the game data is unreadable.
try cleaning the disk
and if that dosnt work you might have to consider getting a new game.
