Question about Equator EZ 3600 CEE Front Load Washer / Dryer

2 Answers

Equator 3600 CEE. I have 9 of these. One overfills on regular water selector (water never shuts off, even during agitation and drain cycle so it even trys to spin while full of water); BUT on low water selector, it shuts the fill water off properly (at the bottom of the port glass) but then will not agitate or anything at all. Since I have apartments with 9 of these, I keep spare parts. The problem persists as I swapped 3 pressure switches in and out (1 new right out of the box); 3 control boards (1 new right out of the box) ; and 3 timers.

The water inlet fill valves are working because they shut the water off when the machine is off and turn the water on properly in both the regular and low water usage settings. The problem is that in the regular water usage setting the water never turns off, even during the agitation, drain and spin cycles, overfilling the tub. In the low water usage setting, the water shuts off properly but the machine does absolutely nothing more (agitate, drain, spin). The pressure switch helps control the inlet water fill valves but I have tried 3 different switches, as well as 3 different timers and 3 different control boards. See original question.

Hi,
It seems as though you have tried everything that would be the normal stuff...
Now because you have a problem that is not making sense the only way now to find the cause is to figure out which of the solenoid valves is staying open and if it stays if you unplug the wires to it first off...then follow the wire that has power when it should not, back to the source of the power, and you should then find the cause of your problem. You may have current back-feeding through a switch, that is causing the problem...
This will take some time and can be very frustrating to track down...you will need to have a good electrical meter and the time and patience to one by one eliminate possibilities and find the problem.

Hi

Overfilling in your washer occurs mainly due to two things: water inlet valve going bad and/or the water level switch. If the water inlet valve has gone bad it won't be able to shut off even when the electricity has been turned off. If the issue is with the water level switch then it won't tell the water to shut off and the machine will overflow as this switch is to sense the water level in the clothes tub. However, with that being said it seems that you'll need to replace the water inlet valve. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Doesnt spin y

Hi ajin 24,

The reason might be that the Drain pump can no longer pump out the water, and as such the Spin cycle can not begin.

Please look at my tip below for th fix:

ACCESS, DRAIN & CLEAN THE DRAIN FILTER...

If the Tip does not work for you, you might need to replace the Drain pump (Faulty)

Kind Regards

Problems Drying Clothes

That's the way it works, kinda stupid, it would be good if it did that at first to loosen up clothes in case they're stuck to the drum but then move like a traditional dryer but that's just the way it is. BTW, here's a website with parts for it in case you need them. I never used them but just found them, I was lucky I never had any problems with my equator until now but I kinda can live with it (during rinse cycles it pumps water out but then when it does the short spins it does not, so rinsing is not as effective sinse it leaves a lot of dirty water in and then puts fresh water in and does it again, it does pump the water out during the final spin cycle though). Anyways, good luck. I bought mine in 2001 or 2002 and never had any problems except for the one I mentioned.

A lot of water remains in machine at end of wash cycle

The drain pump might have gone bad, check if the drain pump is making some kind of noise and also check if the drain pump is not obstructed.
You can open the coin trap on he right hand side bottom of the unit and clean the same for any blockage.

Washer is leaking

Hi just went through the same thing... so you can tell if it is the pump take off back support... run it through a cycle and when it drains you will notice the pump turn on and if the water is leaking from the middle of pump the housing is worn out. You can get the part from appliance desk. Equator sold all of the repair stuff to them . parts@appliancedesk.com ask for Garry don't be suprised if the part is backordered from Italy. It took me 6 weeks to get my part. Good luck happy new year

Leaks near filter

It may be the drain pump that is leaking, you can open the back panel of the unit and figure out if it is so by checking the drain pump for leakage just when the pump starts to work.

EZ 3612 CEE Water Not Draining Completely After Dry Cycle

ChicagoRandy,
You may be loading the washer with too many items. 8 pounds (wet) is the max for an Equator EZ3613 CEE. Mine would drain, but then wouldn't spin, leaving the clothes soaking wet. Here's what worked for me:
I turned it OFF, unplugged it for a while, emptied it of all items, plugged it back in, turned the dial to RESET, turned it ON and watched the Mode light flash quickly for a while, then watched it for over a minute, flashing about once a second, to ensure it really had reset itself. Then, I turned it OFF, turned dial to Cotton 1, turned it ON, and it performed the cycle properly when empty. When this strategy worked, it told me I had put too many items in it for it to spin.

How do you unclog the drain hose on the Equator EZ3600?

you need to open the back and unscrew the clamp to take the drain hose off. if you are lucky, that is the problem. there is another hose that could be clogged between the filter and the pump which is more difficult to get to. or it may be that the pump needs to be disassembled and cleaned to get rid of any obstructions. or you may need to replace the pump entirely. service for these appliances is rather expensive...at least in ny. good luck.
